Kurama the Demon Fox

Kurama suspected he might have traveled through worlds once again.

Why "again"? Because this was not his first time crossing into another realm.

When he first transmigrated from an upright, patriotic youth of the Celestial Empire to a fox, Kurama’s reaction was far from the calm composure he displayed now. Back then, he was overwhelmed by anxiety and panic, desperately seeking a way to return to his original world. But the outcome? Needless to say, every attempt ended in failure.

Eventually, Kurama realized he might never return. For a long stretch, he lived in a state of despondency and self-abandonment, curling himself into a ball of fur in the darkest, most hidden corners, refusing food and drink, shutting out all sounds and sights—as if he could escape the sorrow and despair simply by hiding away.

Yet, as the saying goes, regardless of how you feel, life must go on.

And so, Kurama finally pulled himself together, though it took him a very long time. That wasn’t without its benefits, however. For instance, when he discovered the fox he had become was named Kurama, and shared a companion called Yomi, the Kurama whose spirit had been thoroughly cleansed by time was entirely unflustered.

Thus, when his survival depended on obediently following the storyline alongside Yusuke Urameshi, the protagonist of “Yu Yu Hakusho,” Kurama adapted seamlessly—showing no trace of being a world traveler. His only moment of lost composure was for Genkai.
