Chapter 18: Eerie Sequence 37
Wen Xishu looked into the mirror again, only to find that there were still no additional descriptions.
He was not in a hurry, however, waiting patiently for the Guide to explain.
The Guide’s black head had been observing Wen Xishu the entire time. Finding that this young man was truly composed, it spoke slowly:
"Once you complete your registration, you may summon this mirror at any time to view your personal panel within the Three Towers."
"However, sequences are considered external objects, so you must physically touch the mirror to interact with them."
"By the way, in the future, you will acquire the Desire Sequence and the Slaughter Sequence. But you should know that these sequences cannot be used within the Weird Tower."
After saying this, the three heads simultaneously opened their eyes to stare at Wen Xishu, as if trying to discern some hidden truth in his gaze.
After all, the last person to encounter the three heads had committed an act of the Slaughter Tower while inside the Desire Tower.
Wen Xishu ignored the Guide’s scrutiny.
The Crazed Die was his secret; regardless of whether the Guide might figure it out, he would deny it to the end unless it was exposed.
His attention shifted to his spoils of war.
Upon touching the mirror, Wen Xishu discovered that a line of data had indeed appeared.
[Sequence Slot Capacity: 1. Owned Sequence: Weird Sequence 37: Mental Barrage. This sequence is non-tradeable.]
[Weird Sequence 37: Mental Barrage:
Effect 1: Your inner thoughts will manifest at certain moments; this is considered a summoning effect.
Effect 2: When a target’s emotional value reaches a certain threshold, your inner thoughts will appear as a barrage of text, which only you can perceive.
Effect 3: When your own emotions reach an extreme, these thoughts will also appear as a barrage in the eyes of a specific target.
Effect 4: You can manipulate the manifested objects, provided you possess sufficient Tower Power.]
Wen Xishu fell silent.
He roughly understood how this worked; a Weird Sequence was certainly weird enough.
Inside Jack’s Weird Building, Jack had demonstrated this ability.
He had loathed the sound of Remian’s phone calls to the point of extreme disgust, so when he dialed Remian’s number, the ringtones drifted past like a rain of text. It looked as if a thousand phones were ringing simultaneously, densely bombarding his eardrums.
When Jack desperately wanted to know where Jennifer was, the walls would fill with countless barrages of "Jennifer, where are you?"
Yet, Wen Xishu felt this ability was somewhat underwhelming.
"According to my understanding, the lower the number, the rarer the sequence and the more perverse its effects, right?"
The Guide nodded. "That is correct. Based on the numbering, you have obtained an extremely rare sequence."
Wen Xishu sighed. "Judging from the 'buyer reviews' I saw in Jack’s Weird Building, as well as my interpretation of the description... I truly cannot fathom why it is ranked 37."
Although this thing seemingly had mind-reading capabilities, the prerequisite was that the other party must experience extreme emotions. At the same time, it carried the risk of exposing his own inner thoughts.
Wen Xishu simply couldn't see why it was ranked 37. Was "mental manifestation" such an incredible ability?
The Guide did not answer this. "Weird Sequences often rely on how they are used, but we cannot tell you how to utilize them. You must figure it out yourself. However, I can tell you that any sequence ranked in the top fifty inevitably possesses perverse attributes."
Operating on the principle that something is better than nothing, Wen Xishu inserted Weird Sequence 37 into his sequence slot. He figured that as he continued to explore the Three Towers, he would eventually unlock additional slots or obtain other sequences. He could swap it out then.
"Do sequences come in tradeable and non-tradeable varieties?" he asked, noting the text description.
The Guide nodded. "Yes. As you explore the Three Towers in the future, you may acquire tradeable sequences—those are treasures, oh-ho-ho. Because they are tradeable, it means anyone can use them—or seize them."
Wen Xishu asked again, "Is every sequence available in both tradeable and non-tradeable forms?"
The Guide shook its heads. "Of course not. While many sequences have multiple copies and exist in both tradeable and non-tradeable versions, some sequences are destined to be one-of-a-kind. As for whether they are tradeable or not, it depends primarily on how they are obtained."
"For instance, your Mental Barrage: once you possess it, no one else can have it. Naturally, there will never be a tradeable version of it."
Wen Xishu nodded. So, this seemingly mediocre ability was, in fact, unique.
He asked no further questions. Suddenly, the Guide spoke again:
"Oh, I almost forgot. Your performance in the Desire Tower was excellent, so you have an additional item—a one-time-use item."
The Guide performed a gesture like a magician's flourish, causing a pair of wine glasses to appear in its hands.
"This is a prop you earned in the Desire Tower, called the Truth-Telling Wine Glass."
"Although you did not obtain the rarer Dare Wine Glass, believe me, the Truth-Telling Wine Glass is quite good."
"You can place it in your Three Towers inventory. It occupies one slot."
"However, you understand—since this item originates from the Desire Tower, you cannot take it into the Slaughter Tower or the Weird Tower."
"Alright, you will return to the bunker in three minutes. I look forward to our next meeting."
The Guide’s smile and tone were ambiguous; it was unclear whether it was happy or harboring ulterior motives.
Wen Xishu did not mind. His gaze fell upon the Truth-Telling Wine Glass.
[Truth-Telling Wine Glass: One of a pair with the Dare Wine Glass. It was once the treasure of a drunkard; after the drunkard died, the treasures were separated. Effect: When you drink with someone using this glass, both you and the other party will enter a state of forced honesty.]
A Desire Tower prop, it seemed useful. If he had this, questioning others for secrets would be twice as effective with half the effort.
Wen Xishu was in a great mood.
The Guide had indeed said that items from the Desire Tower could not be brought into the Slaughter or Weird Towers. But Wen Xishu remembered something: he possessed the Crazed Die.
His first roll had triggered the "Force of Three Phases," allowing him to use the abilities and rules of all three towers simultaneously. Did this include items?
Logically, if it included the rules, then items should be usable. After all, the ability to use a certain item was itself determined by the rules.
Wen Xishu wasn't certain; he would have to verify this later.
For now, the bountiful supplies had already arrived at the bunker’s functional level the moment he completed his registration, stored within a Level 4 facility warehouse.
This warehouse was located on the second level of the functional zone—a rare Level 4 facility for that floor.
Simultaneously, another building that had never belonged to the second level had also arrived.
A Level 6 facility: The Hospital.
Within the hospital were vast quantities of medicine and medical resources.
Everything—every item, every massive facility—was now attributed to one person. To anyone who looked at them, a single piece of information would appear:
Owner: Wen Xishu.
Wen Xishu wondered if his actions would be enough to offset the atrocities committed by Wen Zhaohua.
Time ran out, and the black login device caused a sharp pain in his wrist once more.
The surrounding scenery began to shift.
Wen Xishu was about to return to the bunker.
