“Player Liang Yi, please do not question our game settings,” the game assistant replied.

“Besides, it’s just that your luck is better,” it added.

Upon hearing the word “luck,” Liang Yi immediately opened the game interface, eager to see what other players were encountering in the chat channel.

However, before she could fully grasp the conversation, a sharp, hissing sound suddenly reached her ears.

That sound made her heart tighten sharply; she instantly sensed that something was wrong.

Without hesitation, Liang Yi quickly closed the game panel and firmly pressed the brake, bringing the vehicle to a slow stop.

Her gaze followed the source of the sound, and not far ahead on a tree stood a massive black-gray python, over thirty centimeters in diameter and six or seven meters long.

The python faced Liang Yi directly, flicking out its bright red, slender tongue as if issuing a warning.

Its snake eyes exuded a cold, hungry aura that sent shivers down her spine.

If Liang Yi showed even the slightest weakness, it would not hesitate to swallow her whole.

Her heartbeat accelerated rapidly as she widened her eyes, locking eyes with the giant python.

At that moment, the python seemed to decide it was time to strike; it began slowly descending the tree, its movements deliberate and threatening despite their slowness.

Liang Yi’s nerves were stretched to the limit; she dared not relax for a moment, eyes fixed tightly on the python, fearing it might attack suddenly.

“Player Liang Yi, Player Liang Yi, get out of there quickly!” the game assistant shouted urgently.

“Player Liang Yi, please don’t just stand there dazed!”

The assistant called out loudly to prevent Liang Yi from being swallowed by the python.

“Damn it!”

At first, seeing the python, Liang Yi was so terrified her hands and legs trembled; she didn’t even know how to react.

After the assistant’s reminder, she threw caution to the wind and slammed the accelerator to the floor, charging forward.

“Player Liang Yi, do you feel the danger now?” the game assistant mockingly asked.

Liang Yi was so annoyed she felt like grinding her teeth.

“Shut up.”

“Or I might as well heroically sacrifice myself and let the python eat me,” she threatened, all the while continuing to press on.

Fortunately, although the python was huge, its movement was slow, and gradually Liang Yi left it behind.

Once she recovered from her panic, she realized there was a river ahead.

By the riverbank, there was a level-two treasure chest.

After checking around to ensure there was no danger, Liang Yi took her car keys and got out to open the chest.

Inside the chest was a small electric cooker.

The cooker came with a plug and was perfect for one-person meals.

Unfortunately, Liang Yi had no power outlet or generator to cook anything now, so she reluctantly placed the cooker in the car trunk.

Facing a river over two meters wide, Liang Yi pondered whether to build a bridge or detour.

Building a bridge was far beyond her unarmed capabilities, so after just two minutes’ hesitation, she got back in and headed left.

The time was now past ten o’clock.

Checking the battery level, she had already traveled over thirty kilometers.

The remaining power was only enough for another thirty kilometers.

With the battery barely sufficient, she now had to take a detour.

Liang Yi sighed and looked over her supplies.

Besides what she had eaten or traded away earlier, she still had two bottles of mineral water, three packs of instant noodles, one raw egg, one electric cooker, a pair of shoes, two chocolate bars, a bottle of Red Bull, a fruit knife, two loaves of bread, and a bottle of mosquito repellent.

None of these items could recharge her battery.

She had to prepare for the worst.

And preparing meant only one viable option: trading supplies.

Quickly, Liang Yi opened the game interface again.

“Player 2001 posts trade: anyone with a usable electric battery for a tricycle, price by private message.”

After posting the private trade, she switched the interface to the creation tab.

Opening her inventory, she scrolled down to find the raw materials needed to craft a battery, solar panel, or power strip.

To make a battery, besides a blueprint, she needed electrolyte, positive electrode material, and negative electrode material.

These materials could only be found in level-three treasure chests.

So far, Liang Yi had not encountered any level-three chests herself.

From monitoring chat records, she saw that although some players had found them, only five had obtained materials from them.

The rest were empty boxes.

One player even opened a mechanical trap inside and had a finger severed by a flying blade.

Another player’s face was corroded by concentrated sulfuric acid sprayed from a chest.

Liang Yi thought to herself that battery crafting was too difficult and decided to focus on power strips and solar panels instead.

Solar panels required a blueprint, monocrystalline silicon, and electric wires.

Electric wires could be obtained from level-two chests.

She made a mental note to post trade requests for these materials later.

Power strips needed metal aluminum or copper, and plastic made of PP or PC.

The metals could be found in level-two chests, while the plastics were only available from level-three chests or above.

Liang Yi sighed; crafting the materials herself was far too challenging!

Looking away from the game interface, she saw the river stretched endlessly ahead, its end unknown.

With another sigh, she resigned herself to following the river’s course.

“Game assistant, this river setup is really unreasonable,” Liang Yi couldn’t help but complain.

She also understood why there was a five-day time limit.

“Player Liang Yi, please do not question our settings,” the game assistant responded.

Hey!

Liang Yi was just about to stop the car and argue with the assistant when suddenly she heard a cry for help ahead.

She reflexively hit the brakes and peered toward the river.

Soon, she spotted the person.

About three or four meters behind her car, a man was struggling in the water.

“Help! Help!” he shouted loudly, likely having seen Liang Yi.

“Help! Please save me, I’ll give you all my supplies!” he pleaded.

Liang Yi approached the riverbank and looked carefully.

The floodwaters were swift and deep.

Without proper tools at hand, rescuing him would be extremely difficult.

“Help… help me, *gulp*!” The man’s strength was fading, his struggles weakening.

Liang Yi paid no mind to his offered rewards; she didn’t lack supplies.

More importantly, she had no suitable tools to carry out a rescue.

Shortly after, the man was swept away.

Liang Yi then noticed a miniature car floating down the river.

At the same time, on the opposite bank, a man on a bicycle was pedaling rapidly, repeatedly looking toward the river.
