Chapter Eighty-Five: Evolution Island (XI)
“Main world mission, sounds pretty intriguing.” Luo Hanya paused at the system notification, pondering silently, “So, the general structure of this game’s world is like this: a vast main world and countless parallel worlds.”
“And people from the same world—their activities are confined to their own world. For instance, Black Crow traversed from the Ice Hell to the Earth of his dimension. That should count as within the same world.”
“And that dimension’s Earth is merely a part of that world, just as the lower-tier human realm mentioned by Black Crow is another facet of it.”
“The main world, judging by the name, must be the largest? Or the strongest? Perhaps it’s at the center of all worlds?”
“Black Crow and the demonic fetus Ling Xiao—I don’t know which world they belong to. Somehow, I ended up being considered Black Crow’s brother, and Ling Xiao even said he owed me a debt.”
Luo Hanya propped his chin, lost in wild speculation for a long time, only to find himself more confused the longer he thought.
“Oh well, let things fall as they may. I’ll figure it out eventually,” Luo Hanya muttered with an air of indifference, curling his lip, determined not to dwell on it anymore.
Main world mission: Rescue the Elf King’s son, Lord of Aman. The main world mission is a special quest. It will not disappear upon completion of the script unless someone completes the mission before you. Otherwise, your task will persist indefinitely.
“A visitor from the higher dimensions… come… come…” A frail voice echoed in Luo Hanya’s mind. Who else could it be but the Elf King’s son?
Luo Hanya was startled by the title, then stood there awkwardly, locking eyes with the Elf King’s son, neither moving nor speaking for a long while.
“Come, I mean you no harm. We elves never deceive,” Anriel, sensing Luo Hanya’s hesitation, sounded a touch insulted and transmitted his words with annoyance, “Visitor from the higher dimensions, I swear by the name of the Lord of Aman: If I, Anriel, utter even a single falsehood today, may I never behold the Eternal Tree.”
Luo Hanya shrugged helplessly and gestured laboriously to Anriel, pointing at his own ear, then at his mouth.
“Are you mocking me?” Anriel was clearly infuriated by Luo Hanya’s gestures, finally erupting, “Even if you come from a higher dimension, you should not toy with the great Lord of Aman! As an elf, I can sense your physical state. Are you still pretending to be deaf and mute?”
Luo Hanya was amused by Anriel’s peculiar logic, and couldn’t help but laugh. He continued gesturing, exaggerating as he pointed toward the nearby bottomless abyss, made a throat-slitting gesture, then pointed at his mouth again, indicating he dared not speak.
“Oh, you’re afraid of the Flame Demon, so you’re keeping quiet? I misjudged you,” Anriel finally caught on, apologizing through telepathy, “I can grant you the skill of mental communication.”
Anriel’s voice abruptly stopped; a streak of starlight flashed across the statue. As the starlight flickered, Luo Hanya felt as if he’d been struck by electric therapy—his whole body was wracked with pain from the energy coursing through him.
You have evolved into a third-tier creature.
You have evolved into a mid-tier creature.
You have evolved into a fourth-tier creature.
Congratulations, you have acquired a special skill: Whispered Transmission.
Name: Whispered Transmission
Skill Type: Special Skill
Effect: You can communicate with others using your mind.
Note: One of the foundational skills of mastery in martial arts. Mental communication is faster and can improve efficiency. Rumor has it that the company’s “He” and “n” are adept at Whispered Transmission. Whenever they achieve astonishing coordination without words, they use the phrase “We two brothers,” to cover up their mastery of this skill.
Luo Hanya felt the surge of power within him, amplified countless times, and his heart trembled fiercely, his gaze flickering. Maliciously, he grinned to himself, casting a fervent look at Anriel. After all, a mere wisp of starlight had propelled him through two evolutionary stages in an instant. He hadn’t forgotten, in the earlier visions, that Anriel was surrounded by vast swathes of starlight. “If only Anriel could give me more starlight,” he thought, eyes blazing, regarding Anriel as if he were a helpless lamb.
Anriel was startled by Luo Hanya’s intense gaze, bewildered by the odd behavior of this higher-dimensional visitor. Just moments ago, he’d been indifferent; now suddenly, he looked ready to devour him. “Hmm?” Anriel, having lived so long, was well-versed in worldly matters, and so—
“You—you’re not one of those men who fancy other men, are you?” Anriel transmitted, panic-stricken.
Luo Hanya was thunderstruck by Anriel’s sudden leap in logic, but his innate slyness told him exactly how to respond. He adopted a ravenous, predatory expression and transmitted in a sinister tone, “That’s right! I am! I’m gay! Now that you know, my condition for rescuing you is that you must offer yourself to me!”
Anriel didn’t know what “gay” meant, but he guessed it referred to a man who liked other men. Having lived so many years, he wasn’t foolish—his earlier panic was merely a momentary lapse. Once he collected himself, he quickly understood what was going on.
“Haha! Wonderful! I happen to be an elf who likes men!” Anriel feigned ignorance and boldly played along.
“Ah?” This time, Luo Hanya was the one left awkward, but being no fool himself, he quickly realized the situation. He laughed sheepishly and transmitted, “Actually, we both know what’s going on. Let’s get to business, alright?”
“I agree. That would be proper,” Anriel replied.
“Well, the thing is, that wisp of starlight you gave me just now evolved me to a fourth-tier creature. Could you give me some more, as a reward for rescuing you?” Luo Hanya shamelessly suggested, feeling smug.
“That shouldn’t be a problem,” Anriel began, then suddenly exclaimed, “Wait! What did you say? Evolved? You mean evolution?”
“Yes, what about it?”
“Where is this place? Is it the northern region of the Kingdom of Loray?” Anriel asked incredulously.
“This is Evolution Island, surrounded by sea on all sides. I know nothing of the Kingdom of Loray you speak of.”
