Chapter 6: Starting Work
The childcare teacher was completely thrown off guard by Shi Chuchu’s sharp retort of “ugly thing.” She stared in disbelief, impulsively pointing a finger at Shi Chuchu. “You… you called me an ugly thing? You’re the ugly one!”
But faced with Shi Chuchu’s stunningly flawless face, her words felt utterly lacking in conviction.
As a woman herself, the childcare teacher understood Shi Chuchu’s beauty better than any man could. Every feature of her face was exquisite, every detail perfect, coming together to create an inexplicably alluring charm.
Clenching her fists in anger, grinding her teeth, the childcare teacher nevertheless had no desire to engage in a contest of who was uglier with someone like Shi Chuchu—that would be nothing but self-humiliation.
In the end, she resolved firmly to find a way to get rid of this annoying woman as soon as possible.
In the blink of an eye, the two of them followed the butler to the daily activity area for the little master, Xiao Shidun.
The butler first carried Xiao Shidun into the children's room and handed him over to a servant to soothe him to sleep.
Then he began guiding Shi Chuchu and another childcare teacher through the entire kindergarten activity area.
In short, the entire third floor of the east wing of the ancient castle was Xiao Shidun’s activity zone. The functional divisions included but were not limited to: a children’s library, study room, toy room, holographic game room, music room for young instruments, exercise room for kids, painting studio, martial arts room, greenhouse, snack room, lounge, and craft playroom...
Shi Chuchu clicked her tongue in amazement. Was all this really necessary for such a little child?
Unlike her, the other childcare teacher wore a serious expression, carefully inspecting every room and attentively listening to the butler’s introductions and instructions.
“The little master is still young. His daily routine isn’t very demanding. Aside from the necessary enlightenment education and physical exercise each day, the focus is mainly on cultivating hobbies and nurturing his spiritual realm.”
The childcare teacher hurriedly expressed her loyalty: “No problem! I received systematic and professional training at the childcare institute. I will surely nurture the little master’s spiritual realm well!”
The butler smiled and nodded, clearly satisfied. “Miss Tara, I believe together we can safeguard the little master’s growth.”
Then his gaze fell on Shi Chuchu. “Miss Childcare Teacher, the incident just now was sudden, and I haven’t had the chance to ask your name?”
Shi Chuchu hesitated, then reluctantly said two words, “Chu Shi.”
Succubi aren’t good at remembering human names, so in a pinch, Shi Chuchu reversed her own name.
The butler was slightly surprised. “Chu Shi… Miss?”
He quickly regained his composure. “Very well, Miss Tara, Miss Chu. I will send both of you the little master’s schedule. Starting tomorrow, you will take turns accompanying him on a daily shift basis.”
Shi Chuchu did the math. That meant at least three hard days of work each week.
She felt a pang of melancholy. If possible, she’d rather soothe the child’s father directly than fuss over the little one.
Just as she was feeling down, the butler suddenly recalled something and lowered his voice to emphasize, “After eight o’clock every evening is the Marshal’s private time with the little master. Please remember to leave the activity area before then.”
He paused, then added, “The Marshal… does not like to be disturbed.”
Shi Chuchu’s eyes lit up again.
Excellent! After eight o’clock every night, she could muster her energy to seduce Long Yuan! Her meals were secured!
*
The next morning, Shi Chuchu realized she had been prematurely joyful.
The alarm rang again and again. Finally, at eight o’clock, she struggled to sit up and groggily fumbled to turn it off.
Gazing at the bright sunshine outside the window, she sat on the bed, exhausted, contemplating her predicament.
Who could explain to her why a little brat who didn’t have to attend school had to get up so early?
As a purebred succubus, Shi Chuchu’s two favorite things in life were:
First, eating.
Second, sleeping.
Now she could neither eat properly nor get enough rest. She felt utterly mistreated.
Wearing a mask of pain, she shuffled into the bathroom, dazedly completed her morning routine, took a few half-hearted bites of the breakfast brought by the servants, then left the room in a daze.
The butler had arranged for her room to be close to Xiao Shidun’s activity area. After a five-minute walk, Shi Chuchu arrived at his bedroom.
At that moment, Xiao Shidun was in a foul mood, snuggling and twisting under the covers, grumbling and refusing to get up like a plump little caterpillar.
The tiny little creature lay alone on the enormous two-meter-eight bed, making Shi Chuchu’s eyes turn green with envy.
Such a small child, such a huge bed... Hmph, did he even know how to sleep properly?
A male servant stood nearby, holding a set of small clothes, looking troubled.
The little one was so heavy that forcibly pulling him out of the covers would take some effort, but mostly, no one dared to try.
Shi Chuchu’s mind was foggy as she glanced over the schedule she had received last night.
It was already nine o’clock, and according to the schedule, Xiao Shidun should have finished washing, eaten breakfast, and been ready to begin his daily enlightenment lessons.
Not lying in bed like this.
Weakly, she asked the servant, “...Why hasn’t he gotten up yet?”
Seeing Shi Chuchu arrive, the servant became even more flustered.
“Sorry, Miss Chu. The nanny Lin, who usually takes care of the little master, suddenly developed a high fever last night. The responsibility fell to me temporarily.”
“I… I’m really not good at coaxing children. I must have upset the little master, which is why he’s sulking and refusing to get up.”
Shi Chuchu looked at his flushed face and awkward hands with deep sympathy.
After all, the child was hers, with half succubus blood, and succubi mostly loved to sleep.
Forcing him to get up early was simply unreasonable.
She looked at the clock on the wall and pondered for a moment.
“Forget it. You go ask the enlightenment teacher to excuse the little master. Cancel the morning class for today.”
While speaking, she took the clothes from the servant’s hands.
The servant hesitated. “...Is that okay? Won’t that be inappropriate?”
His words made Shi Chuchu hesitate too.
Then she recalled the butler’s instructions from yesterday: the childcare teacher had full authority to manage and adjust the child’s entire daily schedule.
So she gained confidence and gently pushed the servant out the door. “No, it’s fine. You go. I’ll take care of this.”
The servant left, repeatedly glancing back.
In the vast room, only the child and Shi Chuchu remained.
Shi Chuchu closed the door, turned around to stare at the massive bed, her eyes glowing red.
Bed, here I come!
Without hesitation, she sprang up, arcing gracefully through the air, and landed happily on the soft, enormous bed.
The mattress bounced vigorously, jolting the child awake.
The pale, tousled little bundle sat up in surprise, looking at the mysterious giant body collapsed beside him, his sulk instantly vanished.
After a brief hesitation, he stretched out a chubby finger and poked the back of Shi Chuchu’s head.
