Chapter 3: She, in Turn, is Tempering Him
Fluffy bounced happily up to the entrance of the narrow cave.
Looking at the cramped opening, her small lips puckered, and with her doll-like appearance, her expression of barely concealed dissatisfaction made her all the more endearing.
Just as the crowd watching the memories was about to be melted by her adorable look, she spoke.
“You go out and squat by the cave entrance. I’ll stay inside.”
Hiss!
This girl, barely more than a child, was already so selfish!
The cave could clearly hold two people!
Why did Fluffy have to stay outside?
Fluffy was forcibly pulled outside by her.
He glanced nervously at the approaching hurricane, his small face turning pale. “Sister, sister, can I come in? I’m scared.”
Fluffy took out a nearly ten-meter-long rope from her backpack.
She tied each end of the rope securely to her wrist and Fluffy’s.
“I told you to stay outside, so stay outside! With this rope, the hurricane won’t blow you away. Don’t worry.”
This move infuriated everyone gathered in the square.
“That woman is way too selfish!”
“The hurricane on Silverfrost Planet carries coarse gravel and mineral dust, and its core is a vacuum with no air. Anyone caught inside would surely die instantly!”
“To be so cruel at such a young age!”
“Now I begin to understand why Boss Chu hates Fluffy so much. If it were me, I’d hate her too.”
Watching the memories, Fluffy’s hatred only intensified.
The last bit of pity he felt was completely eroded by these scenes.
“My memories of Silverfrost Planet are hazy. I only remember that a merchant couple wanted to adopt me, but Fluffy snatched me away.”
Despite the audience’s anxious hearts, Fluffy was swept up by the hurricane.
His small body was pulled into the eye of the storm.
The rope tied to Fluffy’s wrist was rapidly shortening.
Everyone feared she might get scared and untie it.
But she did not.
She calmly stood up, looked up at the hurricane, gripping the rope tightly until she felt the immense pulling force.
With her slender arms, she held the rope firmly.
The hurricane’s force could reach over a thousand jin, yet Fluffy grasped the rope so effortlessly and steadily!
“She’s only five, and already has such physical strength!”
“If someone like her had been recruited early by the military, she might have become a pillar of the Empire Star. Such a pity she took the wrong path.”
Jiang Chen sneered, “Even if the military had recruited her, with her selfish and malicious nature, she would have eventually gone astray anyway.”
---
A middle-aged man in military uniform stood nearby, puzzled.
“With her physique, she’d be more than qualified as a soldier. I remember she appeared on Empire Star at eighteen. If she had taken the academy’s exams, she could have been specially admitted. Why would she choose to become a songstress?”
At last, the long-silent commander of the interstellar fleet, Shi Qiyuan, spoke.
“Because her genes were damaged, her strength was greatly diminished.”
Such perfect genes, yet damaged?
What kind of attack could do that?
How did Fluffy survive such an assault?
Perhaps it was fortunate her genes were damaged; otherwise, if she were still as powerful as in childhood, who knows what cruelty she might have unleashed.
Still, everyone was curious—what exactly had she endured?
---
The hurricane lasted thirty seconds.
To Fluffy, it felt like an eternity.
Her wrists and palms were raw and bleeding from the rope’s friction.
When the storm passed, she lightly touched the ground with her toes, gracefully caught the unconscious Fluffy, and held him close.
His skin was scratched by countless wounds from the sand and stones in the hurricane, looking like a bloodied man.
Fluffy’s spoiled demeanor vanished completely.
She gently set him down and tenderly untied the rope from his wrist, her face stern as she carefully examined his injuries.
She murmured softly, “Could the memory inheritance be right? With such defective genes, his abilities can only reach this level?”
---
The audience below was ecstatic.
“Memory inheritance? Such a thing really exists!”
“I’ve only read about it in records. From ancient times until now, there are extremely rare SSSS-class atavistic genes that, when triggered, awaken inherited memories. The Celestial Spirit race is one such ancient gene!”
“From what she said... Boss Chu’s genes are defective?”
“So she’s been doing all this to train Boss Chu? Looks like she does care for him at least at times, after all they’ve been through together.”
Fluffy clenched his fists tightly.
So Fluffy, awakened to inherited memories, once wanted to help him.
But he was too useless, so she abandoned him?
This woman!
He risked his life protecting her when she was gravely ill!
Yet she cast him aside so easily!
This truth was even harder for him to accept.
---
Fluffy skillfully tended to Xu Chu’s wounds.
This only confirmed further that she truly inherited genetic memories.
A five-year-old child, without parents to teach her, could never know so much.
Under Fluffy’s care, three days later, Xu Chu finally awoke, his wounds mostly healed.
Upon waking, Fluffy resumed her bossy demeanor.
“Good, you’re awake. After taking care of you for so many days, you’re really ungrateful.”
Xu Chu, long used to her temper, obediently apologized, “Sorry, sister.”
Fluffy placed her hands on her hips. “Hurry up, we still have another hurricane to chase.”
This time, everyone held their breath watching the scene.
Only five years old, Fluffy already displayed all the qualities of an excellent warrior.
Not only did she have extraordinary physical strength, but she could also predict the hurricane’s trajectory by observing the wind.
She used a stick to draw lines on the ground calculating the hurricane’s path, successfully intercepting it ten times over the following month.
Xu Chu was caught in the hurricane ten times as well.
Each time, he was covered in scars, but the effort was evident—he gradually kept pace with Fluffy while traveling.
After the last time, Fluffy laid the unconscious Xu Chu inside the cave with a serious expression, scanning him repeatedly with a device.
“No, no, still no good...”
“A genetic defect can’t be fixed by strengthening physical fitness.”
She muttered to herself, eyes fixed on the data on the device, her delicate face full of concern and dissatisfaction.
She occasionally glanced at Xu Chu with disdain.
Seeing this, Xu Chu’s face paled, and he gritted his teeth, staring intently at the large screen before him.
So, Fluffy decided to give up on him here?
Because he was beyond hope, feeble, destined to lack strength, unworthy to travel with her, she abandoned him?
After treating him, Fluffy took out a display tablet, opened it, and began writing and murmuring incantations.
Outside, night fell, and a bonfire flickered warmly inside the cave.
Suddenly, a towering figure appeared at the entrance.
The figure was huge—at least two and a half meters tall—a moving mountain of a man.
“Hiss!” The crowd gasped sharply, someone exclaimed, “That’s a Nilsian! A species believed extinct!”
“Nilsian bloodlines are also ancient, SSSS-class genes. They lack pain sensation and possess immense combat power. They are brutal warmongers. How could one appear here?”
“Is he here to kill Sister Fluffy and Xu Chu? How can we fight them? Better to end it quickly than suffer.”
“Don’t panic, that happened over twenty years ago. We already know if they survived or not.”
“But the question is, how did they escape?”
