Chapter Fifty-Nine: The Spirit of Mysterious Earth
Taking advantage of the moment when the Earth Element Three-Headed Python was about to dodge, Li Ren leaped up, stepping onto the layer of black earth covering its body, and after a few agile twists, found himself beneath one of its necks.
The creature was enormous; from the massive fork in its body to its head spanned at least several dozen meters.
Without a word, Li Ren unleashed a Five-Star Strike directly at one of the necks.
Blood splattered instantly.
The Earth Element Three-Headed Python writhed in pain, its huge body shaking, and the three gigantic heads began to twist together.
Seeing this, Li Ren wasted no time. He pressed his foot down once more, narrowly dodging the deadly constriction.
As he landed again, both Shadow and Lantis's magic assaulted the beast. Two powerful spells struck its body, blasting off large patches of muddy scales.
Blood spurted everywhere.
Seizing the opportunity, Li Ren struck again with a Five-Star Strike, driving it deep into the python's body.
His weapon skill, which had a 1% chance to bypass defense, triggered.
The previously impenetrable muddy scales and black earth yielded like tofu, easily split open. After two consecutive Five-Star Strikes, the Three-Headed Python was completely enraged.
Its massive form twisted erratically. Suddenly, a surge of overwhelming force erupted beneath Li Ren's feet.
Caught off guard, Li Ren was violently hurled into the air.
Pain seared through him; his health bar dropped by nearly half in an instant!
Bracing against the agony, Li Ren climbed to his feet. The Earth Element Three-Headed Python no longer cared about him and charged furiously toward Lantis and Shadow.
Mud and earth flew everywhere in its path; despite its bulk, its speed and agility were unaffected.
Seeing this, Lantis immediately retreated, while Shadow, undeterred, continued to channel intense magical energy.
Given Li Ren's current position, the Three-Headed Python would surely reach Shadow before he could.
It was clear the two had made a split-second decision: Shadow would draw the beast's attention, sacrificing himself to protect Lantis.
Li Ren sprinted madly, only to see a golden ray shoot forth from one of the remaining heads, striking Shadow where he stood.
The massive beam blasted the ground into a deep crater.
Yet Shadow's body was not within that pit.
Li Ren's final Blink brought him to the python's side. Without hesitation, he vaulted upward, following its colossal neck to the head that had just unleashed its skill.
He swapped out his equipment, donning the golden artifact—the Frenzied Mask—that had once been nothing more than a keepsake from the defeat of the Woma Lord alongside Falling Moon and the others.
Frenzied Bloodlust! Activate!
Attack speed doubled instantly; each blow now carried an additional 50% lightning damage!
Five-Star Strike!
He hovered in midair, propelled by sheer instinct, his sword hand extending forward slowly.
Even before his blade reached its mark, cracks began to appear along the sharp horn atop the python's head, deepening as the sword drew near.
Time itself seemed to freeze. Lantis watched in astonishment as Li Ren's blade finally touched the horn.
It seemed so gentle.
A crisp sound echoed, accompanied by a cloud of blood; Li Ren was flung violently from his position by a surge of force.
The python's head, struck by his sword, exploded into a bloody mist with that light touch.
Li Ren climbed to his feet, his right arm numb and unresponsive. Though it seemed he had stabbed only once, in that split second, he had unleashed several Five-Star Strikes at reckless speed thanks to the Frenzied Mask's skill.
The overlapping blows blurred into a single motion, and with the triggered defense-break and lightning effect, the Earth Element Three-Headed Python had no time to recover—another head was destroyed instantly.
Shadow reappeared from the distance, his complexion pale as death; his HP and MP barely a tenth of their maximum. He had survived the lethal attack by using his most guarded life-saving skill, never expecting it would create such an opening for Li Ren.
The Earth Element Three-Headed Python was utterly stunned by these relentless assailants.
Having lost two heads, if it still failed to grasp the situation, it would truly be a waste of its existence.
The first floor of the Realm Tower was the Earth Domain, with the Three-Headed Python as its guardian spirit beast.
It had slept for untold ages, and the sudden intrusion had excited it. Emerging to confront the intruders, it was immediately blasted by a powerful magical arrow that destroyed its strongest head.
Though it could regenerate, its strength was halved in an instant.
Afterward, it was repeatedly struck by what it considered a mere flea, unable to find an opportunity to counterattack.
Barely managing to obliterate one troublesome flea, it was shocked when another used some strange skill to destroy yet another head.
Moreover, the strongest adversary remained in the distance, ready to unleash deadly skills at any moment.
The Three-Headed Python was thoroughly bewildered by this trio.
As it prepared to escape, Li Ren refused to let it go.
Though his own strength was nearly exhausted, Lantis's power remained formidable; there was no worry about subduing this vexing beast.
To come and go as one pleased—such ease was not permitted.
Li Ren blinked forward, sticking close to the python, then executed a Rain of Severed Bonds. Blades of fierce sword energy pressed down upon its body.
The python had no will to fight, only to flee.
But soon, it was forced to halt.
A surge of powerful dark energy had enveloped its path ahead—one more step would result in catastrophic damage.
Lantis appeared nearby.
Seeing Lantis unleash such a skill, Li Ren realized the battle might be over. He remained vigilant.
Indeed, the Three-Headed Python understood perfectly. It turned and stopped where it was.
A tense standoff settled over the scene.
Yet Li Ren's group held the clear advantage.
"Three-headed serpent, if you wish to avoid dying in vain, follow my instructions," Lantis said calmly, stepping up beside Li Ren and facing the colossal creature.
"Who are you?" After a brief silence, the python asked in awkward human speech.
"Hmph! I am the one asking questions, not you. If such incidents happen again, your remaining heads will meet the same fate!" Lantis's tone was forceful. The python's sole surviving head glared furiously, but soon wilted.
