Chapter Seven: You Truly Are a Dog

Seeing Mo Yinqiu’s astonished expression, Qian Qi knew that with her reputation, applying for demon plant seeds would require a lot of persuasion. So she stepped forward and spoke the carefully prepared words she had long rehearsed.
“Mentor Mo, you might not believe it, but recently I’ve had a sudden enlightenment. I realized I can’t keep being so lazy anymore. I’ve worked so hard to get into Awakener University; how could I waste such a great learning opportunity?”
“The school provides such an excellent learning environment. It doesn’t expect us to become talents or repay the alma mater; it only hopes we can find our own path to survive in this tragic apocalypse. How could I possibly waste the school’s painstaking efforts?”
“So I’ve made up my mind,” Qian Qi slammed her hand on the table, her face full of determination and faith. She declared passionately, “I will carve out a future in demon plant research! I will become the pride of the Demon Plant College! Even more, the pride of Awakener University! Today, I take pride in my alma mater; tomorrow, the alma mater will take pride in me!”
Mo Yinqiu: ……
What a grandiose speech. Honestly, I don’t buy it.
“You have that kind of spirit, which is good.” Mo Yinqiu stood up. Although she didn’t fully believe Qian Qi’s words, knowing her strong-willed nature, it was already impressive that she had the audacity to say such things.
She picked up an application form from the desk and handed it to Qian Qi. “Write down which demon plant seeds you want.”
Qian Qi obediently sat down nearby, pulled out a carbon pen from the pen holder, and, copying the original handwriting, scribbled the names of ten types of seeds on the form.
After signing her name, she handed the form back to Mo Yinqiu.
Mo Yinqiu glanced over it casually, seeing nothing special. These were all ordinary Grade E demon plants. Except for the Three-Scaled Orchid and Crimson Flame Grass, which had mild blood-stopping effects, the rest were worthless.
“Before planting, read the book on cultivation methods, and learn about these plants’ attack styles and weaknesses. Don’t plant blindly,” Mo Yinqiu instructed briefly, then went to the seed storage room to prepare the seeds.
A few minutes later, she came out carrying ten small bags and tossed them to Qian Qi.
“Thank you, Mentor Mo.” Qian Qi stored the seeds carefully. Just as Mo Yinqiu thought she would leave after achieving her goal, Qian Qi suddenly stepped closer.
She sniffed delicately, feigning surprise. “Mentor Mo, I feel like I smell alcohol?”
Mo Yinqiu froze. Although the school was lenient with Demon Plant College teachers, the rules clearly forbade drinking on campus.
“You must be mistaken.” Mo Yinqiu’s face showed no panic. “Alright, take the seeds and go quickly.”
“Mentor Mo, you might not believe this…” Qian Qi hesitated.
Hearing that phrase again, Mo Yinqiu instinctively felt uneasy.
“My nose isn’t always reliable,” Qian Qi said innocently, glancing at the small table on the balcony. “If you’re willing to give me another Three-Scaled Orchid seed, then today my nose isn’t very sharp. But if you’re unwilling…”
She shook her head with a look of regret. “Then my nose is definitely sharp.”

Mo Yinqiu: ……
Mo Yinqiu: ???
Mo Yinqiu burst out laughing. “Qian Qi, are you threatening me?”
“No, no, no, not at all!” Qian Qi quickly waved her hands innocently. “I’ve just decided to reform and abide by the rules. Surely Mentor Mo hopes I turn over a new leaf and become a good person, right?”
Seeing Qian Qi’s mischievous smile, Mo Yinqiu’s mouth twitched slightly.
Usually, she might have asserted her authority and threatened back. After all, a girl barely in her teens, no matter how notorious or stubborn, couldn’t outwit an adult.
But today’s Qian Qi was vastly different. She once resembled a prickly stray cat—alert and irritable—but now she was more like a cunning, shameless old fox.
Mo Yinqiu was genuinely curious about this sudden change.
Also, since she didn’t fully trust Qian Qi and wanted to discover her intentions behind requesting those seeds, after glaring at her for a moment, Mo Yinqiu clicked her heels and went back to the storage room to fetch another Three-Scaled Orchid seed.
To prevent Qian Qi from trying to manipulate her again, she pointed at the application form and said irritably, “Change the quantity of Three-Scaled Orchids to two. In special cases, you can apply for an extra seed.”
Qian Qi beamed with joy, “Yes, yes, yes!”
After leaving the office, Qian Qi sighed appreciatively, “Mentor Mo is so kind. I’ll definitely come see her often.”
The blue panel flashed disdainfully: [I’m not a dog, but you really are a dog.]
“Don’t say that,” Qian Qi said sincerely. “You’re not a dog, but you’re the leader of the dogs.”
Blue panel: [???]
——
Qian Qi spent the entire afternoon poring over textbooks and her lightbrain, memorizing all available information on these ten demon plants.
The next morning, after a good sleep, she got up energetically and shook Chen Miaomiao awake. “Miaomiao, get up, it’s time for breakfast.”
Chen Miaomiao was startled awake and, upon seeing Qian Qi’s face, her heart raced for a while before grumpily saying, “I’m not eating!”
“Don’t be like that. Food is the foundation of life—if you skip a meal you’ll starve.” Qian Qi pulled her out of bed with care. “Getting up early to eat is good for your health.”
Chen Miaomiao was no match for Qian Qi’s strength. With no plans on Chen Tong’s side for now, she dared not provoke Qian Qi too much and reluctantly got up to get dressed.
Seeing this, Qian Qi smiled brightly, changed into her already dried T-shirt, grabbed her moderately thick Demon Plant Studies textbook, and put on her flip-flops as she headed to the cafeteria.

Chen Miaomiao followed reluctantly, shooting Qian Qi a burning glare that seemed to pierce her through.
[It’s not too late to unlock the 70 coins now~]
The blue panel trembled wildly before Qian Qi, as if it could reach out and snatch the last coins from her pocket.
Qian Qi ignored it completely and whistled flirtatiously at the cafeteria lady at Food Station No. 1. “Hey beautiful~ Two tea eggs, please~”
Chen Miaomiao looked horrified at Qian Qi’s shameless behavior.
What on earth is this crazy girl doing?!
“Hey, kid, who are you whistling at?” the cafeteria lady teased with a smile. Since Qian Qi called her beautiful, she wasn’t angry. “Two coins!”
Qian Qi grinned, baring her teeth. “What are you saying? I’m a little girl!”
The cafeteria lady glanced up and suddenly felt embarrassed. “Oh dear, Auntie’s eyesight is poor. Here, let me give you a bowl of soy milk to help you grow!”
Qian Qi was overwhelmingly grateful. “Thank you, Auntie, you’re such a kind person!”
Carrying the two tea eggs and the soy milk, Qian Qi turned to Chen Miaomiao and asked curiously, “Miaomiao? Why are you spacing out?”
Chen Miaomiao blinked, confused. “What?”
“Pay the bill!” Qian Qi said matter-of-factly.
Chen Miaomiao was dumbfounded. Is Qian Qi getting more shameless by the day? She used to just freeload meals, but now she actually dares to make her pay directly?
Seeing Chen Miaomiao hesitate, Qian Qi clutched the bandage on her neck. “Ouch, it hurts, and when it hurts, my hands get itchy.”
Chen Miaomiao: ……
Gritting her teeth, Chen Miaomiao took out her student card and swiped to pay.
Qian Qi patted her shoulder appreciatively, then waved and said, “I have something to do now. I have class at ten, but after class, we’ll eat lunch together~”
Chen Miaomiao was stunned.
What? Who wants to have lunch with her!!!
