His Boss Brother Yawn 1845 words 2026-02-09 17:23:28

On the hillside, the grass, soaked by rain and dried by wind, was unusually soft. Yi Xiaoyu lay down directly, one leg bent, arms folded behind his head, his gaze gentle as he looked up at the starry sky.

Boss You sat beside Yi Xiaoyu, took off his own jacket, and draped it over Yi Xiaoyu’s abdomen, murmuring, “Be careful not to catch a cold.”

After speaking, Boss You lay down next to Yi Xiaoyu, shifting closer until one side of his body was pressed tightly against Yi Xiaoyu.

Boss You stared thoughtfully at the night sky, then suddenly asked in a soft voice, “Xiaoyu, am I rather annoying?”

Yi Xiaoyu turned his head, surprised as he looked at You.

Seeing the trace of wounded sorrow in You’s eyes, Yi Xiaoyu felt a sudden pang of discomfort.

“No, you’re overthinking it,” Yi Xiaoyu closed his eyes and replied gently, “At least, I don’t find you annoying.”

Boss You rolled onto his side, propping a hand against his temple, “Really?”

“Mm.”

“Do you ever feel tired being with me?” Boss You asked cautiously, “Or... embarrassed?”

Yi Xiaoyu opened his eyes, stared at the sky for a few seconds, then suddenly rolled over, caught You’s hand, cupped You’s face in both hands, and kissed him fiercely.

The sudden joy left Boss You’s mind blank; caught up in Yi Xiaoyu’s kiss, his arms instinctively wrapped around Yi Xiaoyu’s waist.

Yi Xiaoyu raised his head and said seriously, “Does that answer you?”

Boss You nodded excitedly, “I knew you loved me.”

Yi Xiaoyu couldn’t help but laugh, tapping You’s forehead, “You.”

Yi Xiaoyu lay atop You, hands resting on You’s shoulders, his cheek pressed close to You’s chest, eyes closed, savoring this peaceful moment.

Boss You gently stroked Yi Xiaoyu’s waist with one hand, the other folded behind his head; in this moment, he truly wished time could stop.

The two lingered in intimacy for more than ten minutes. Just as Boss You was about to tease the one in his arms and perhaps start a wild adventure in the wilderness, his ear pressed to the ground caught the sound of footsteps.

Not just one person’s footsteps, but a group.

Boss You had a bad feeling.

Like a startled bird, Boss You sat up, pulling Yi Xiaoyu from the ground—not standing upright, but crouching low.

“What’s wrong, Fatty?” Yi Xiaoyu was startled by the sudden seriousness in You’s expression.

“At least seven people are approaching, come with me!”

With that, Boss You pulled Yi Xiaoyu into a nearby patch of tall grass, half the height of a person.

Under cover of night, such a hiding spot was not easily spotted.

“What’s—”

“Shh—they’re here.”

You abruptly covered Yi Xiaoyu’s mouth, his eyes shining cold in the darkness like a beast’s.

“Looks like we’re their target,” You whispered, eyes fixed ahead, “Don’t make a sound, Xiaoyu.”

This was the first time Yi Xiaoyu had seen You so deadly serious.

The place where Yi Xiaoyu and You had been lying was suddenly swarmed by seven or eight burly men, each holding knives or clubs.

But what made You most wary was the young man leading them, who was holding a gun.

Without the gun, he might have been confident in dealing with the group, but...

Under the faint moonlight, Yi Xiaoyu could even make out the terrifying blue-black tattoos on some of their necks, and felt a surge of fear.

These were clearly mercenary thugs, willing to risk their lives for money. Being targeted by them could mean hospitalization at best, death at worst.

There was no help nearby, and they were far from any busy district; to say he wasn’t scared would be a lie.

“Damn, did they already leave?” The leader scanned the area, cursing angrily, “Shit! Such a good chance and they slipped away!”

“They shouldn’t have. Didn’t we see their car when we came up?” a burly man behind him replied, “There’s only one road off this hill—they wouldn’t jump off, would they?”

The leader raked his hair, switched on his flashlight, sweeping it around in irritation.

You hurriedly pressed Yi Xiaoyu’s head down.

When the light passed over, You whispered, “Xiaoyu, call the police.”

Yi Xiaoyu quickly searched his pocket for his phone, but just as he took it out, the ringtone suddenly sounded.

Even though it was just a gentle piano melody, in the silent night it seemed painfully loud.

Yi Xiaoyu hurriedly ended the call, but all the flashlights immediately turned toward them.

Almost instantly, You muttered, “Don’t show yourself,” then stood up abruptly from the grass, positioning himself directly in front of Yi Xiaoyu.

All the lights fell on You’s face.

You stepped out of the grass into the light, waving his phone in front of the men, and chuckled bitterly, “Ah, should’ve switched to silent—what rotten luck tonight.”

The leader narrowed his eyes at You, intense hatred etched plainly on his face, sneering, “Finally, time to settle accounts!”
