Chapter 46: A Storm Is Brewing in Jiangzhou
“Mmm... mercy...”
He kept slapping at Zhang Wenhe’s hand, but how could anyone easily shake off Zhang Wenhe’s grip? Very soon, an entire bottle of liquor was forced down his throat. The boss coughed violently, feeling as though he were dying from the pain. Before he could even catch his breath, Zhang Wenhe opened another bottle and shoved it down his throat, pouring the liquid in with a gurgling sound.
Then came the third bottle, and the fourth...
By the time half of the fourth bottle was poured in, the boss’s hands dropped, too weak to struggle any longer. Zhang Wenhe tossed him aside in exasperation, liquor streaming from his mouth. With a kick, Zhang Wenhe looked at him with utter disdain.
“Useless! Can’t even handle more than three bottles? I could drink ten in one sitting!”
His gaze then fell on the remaining two men. The two old men clung to each other, wailing louder than a pair of frightened girls.
“Please spare us! We’ll never dare again!”
“We... we can pay you, please, just let us go!”
Xiu’er laughed coldly.
“Your filthy money isn’t even enough for my young master’s tea! You dared to lay a hand on my young master’s lady—do you think you’ll live to see another day? The fact that we don’t wipe out your whole family is already a sign of my young master’s mercy!”
The two men were utterly despairing. At this point, what hope could they possibly cling to?
But just then, one of them caught sight of a figure passing by the entrance. His eyes lit up as if he’d found salvation, and he shouted desperately:
“Mr. Xu! Mr. Xu, save us! Please, save us, Mr. Xu!”
“Hahaha... it’s Mr. Xu! Young Master Xu from the Xu family—we’re saved! With him here, they wouldn’t dare go any further!”
At their cries, the group at the door paused, then entered. The young man in the lead frowned at the scene before him.
“What’s going on? Don’t you know fighting is forbidden in our hotel?”
The two bosses scrambled over, clutching his legs and sobbing.
“Mr. Xu! It’s not a fight—President Qi and President Niu are dead! These guys are maniacs! Please...”
“Mr. Xu, if you hadn’t come, we wouldn’t last another two minutes!”
“Mr. Xu, you must stand up for us!”
“Is that so?” Xu’s expression shifted, and he narrowed his eyes at Ling Xiao.
“Who are you? You’ve got some nerve, killing people in my Xu Grand Hotel. Do you have no respect for the law?”
Ling Xiao didn’t look at him, holding the sleeping Mu Yiren in his arms, covering her ears to keep her undisturbed.
“Hey! Are you deaf or just ignoring me? Didn’t you hear what I said?”
Ling Xiao finally raised his head and glanced at him—just a single glance.
“Enough with your yapping. You’re not qualified to yap at all.”
“Oh?” Xu scoffed coldly.
“You’re bold indeed! This is the Xu Grand Hotel, my Xu family’s territory. You’re saying I, Xu Beichen, have no right to speak here?”
Ling Xiao replied icily,
“You’re too noisy. Slap his mouth!”
Before Xu Beichen could respond, Xiu’er stepped forward and slapped him hard.
A resounding crack—Xu Beichen was sent flying.
He crashed to the floor, knocking over a table in the outer hall. His men rushed to help him up.
“Get off!” Xu Beichen shoved them away and spat a mouthful of blood—two of his teeth mixed in.
He glared at Ling Xiao, his eyes burning with hatred.
“You—what’s your name? Identify yourself!”
Xiu’er answered coldly,
“My young master’s name is not for trash like you to know.”
“Trash? You really think highly of yourself! Let me tell you, this is Xu territory! Here, I am the law!”
Xu Beichen was furious, pointing at his own head, eyes wide with arrogance.
“Young master, I can’t take it anymore!” Zhang Wenhe stepped forward and launched a kick, sending Xu Beichen flying yet again.
With a thud, Xu Beichen hit the ground hard and passed out immediately.
Zhang Wenhe spat on his face.
“Idiot, in front of my young master, what are you worth?”
He then shouted at Xu Beichen’s men:
“What are you looking at? Drag your useless young master out of here! Damn fools!”
Scared stiff, Xu Beichen’s men carried him away without a word.
The two bosses were utterly dumbfounded.
The esteemed Young Master Xu Beichen had been flattened by Ling Xiao’s subordinate in a single move!
Who could possibly save them now?
Ling Xiao had no interest in staying any longer. Cradling Mu Yiren, he left the private room.
“Zhang Wenhe, deal with these two fools. I don’t want to see them breathing another breath.”
“Rest assured, young master, I’ll handle it right away!”
With a sinister grin, he turned to the two men. His usually sunny smile now seemed to them like the grimace of a death god—cold and terrifying.
Once outside the Xu Grand Hotel, Keke hurried to Ling Xiao.
“Mr. Ling, perhaps you should let me take care of the president!”
“No need.”
“But Mr. Ling, our president... she has someone she loves. She doesn’t like being touched by other men. If she wakes up and finds out, she’ll blame me!”
“I am the one she loves.”
“What?” Keke was stunned. Xiu’er smiled and explained,
“Our young master is the young lord of the Ling family.”
Keke instantly covered her mouth, her beautiful eyes wide with shock.
“My goodness, isn’t he the one whose legs were broken?”
“With my young master’s destiny, even if every bone in his body were shattered, he’d be unharmed.”
“But... but why hasn’t he reunited with the president?”
“Soon. By tomorrow night, our young master will recognize Miss Mu. Then, he’ll make her the happiest woman in all of Jiangzhou!”
She smiled again, turning to Keke.
“I hope you can keep this a secret for our young master, all right?”
Keke nodded.
“I understand!”
“Thank you, then. Goodbye.”
With that, Xiu’er caught up with Ling Xiao and got into the Rolls-Royce. The car sped away.
Left behind, Keke pressed her hand to her chest, still in shock.
“My goodness, the young lord of the Ling family is back—and is now the young master! With him so formidable, after what happened to the Ling family before, how could he possibly let it slide? He’s a killer—he’ll turn all of Jiangzhou upside down!”
The sky over Jiangzhou was about to change.
