Chapter 84: Seeking a Doctor
"The law? What about when the Young Master of Iron Fist dared to insult my wife?"
"He may have harbored ill intentions toward your wife, but it seems he didn’t succeed, did he? Was it necessary to slaughter his entire sect? You’ve taken lives so recklessly—such brutality is monstrous!"
Ling Xiao smiled indifferently.
"There's no need for such exaggeration."
"Since ancient times, the strong prey upon the weak; that is the law. I gave Iron Fist Sect their chance—they failed to grasp it. If I destroyed them, they have only themselves to blame."
"You—! Ling Xiao, how dare you! Don’t think you are untouchable. Our Dragon Group Tribunal will never allow you to act so wantonly!"
Ling Xiao swept his gaze coldly across the elder, his eyes sharp as blades.
"Untouchable? If you dare lay a finger on me, I’ll deal with you first."
"You—! Are you threatening to kill members of the Dragon Group Tribunal? Do you realize what consequences will follow if you harm me?"
Ling Xiao snorted lightly and took a sip of tea.
"I dared wipe out Iron Fist—what makes you think I won’t dare kill you?"
"You wouldn’t!"
"Watch me."
At those words, Ling Xiao raised his hand and struck with a fist. The faces of those present paled; no one expected him to make a sudden move. Caught off guard, the elder stumbled back several steps, his throat filled with blood, which he spat out.
"Outrageous!"
Members of the Dragon Group Tribunal slammed their hands on the table in anger. Ling Xiao’s eyes flickered, and a powerful aura enveloped them all.
"You are the ones being outrageous!"
In that instant, the crowd could barely breathe. The arrogance on their faces melted into grave concern. Ling Xiao’s aura made them wary—and a hint of fear crept in.
Even as members of the Dragon Group Tribunal, they dared not confront Ling Xiao directly. Slowly, they sat back down, only then did Ling Xiao withdraw his pressure.
"The Hundred Sects Tournament is about to begin. During the tournament, Dragon Group suspends all restrictions on the martial world. That’s the rule."
"But the tournament is still a month away, yet you’ve begun your killing spree. That violates the rules!"
Ling Xiao glanced at the elder, his tone cold.
"Rules are made by men—and men can change them. The Iron Fist matter could have been ignored, and it would have passed. I dislike trouble; if you insist on making trouble for me, I won’t hesitate to stretch my muscles further."
His indifferent words sent a tremor through everyone’s heart. They exchanged glances, but none dared voice further complaints.
"If the General puts it that way, then we’ll take our leave."
"Get out."
Ling Xiao waved his hand, and the group quickly departed. They had arrived swiftly—and left even faster.
But inside their car, tempers flared.
"This Ling Xiao is utterly insolent!"
"Who does he think he is? Does he imagine himself an emperor? Just a mere Major General, yet so arrogant—does he even acknowledge the Dragon Group?"
"His cultivation is stronger than any of us. To subdue him, we’d need the Dragon Group to send even stronger experts from the capital!"
"When we return, we must immediately call the Dragon Group headquarters in Beijing and request they send more powerful fighters to deal with him!"
"If this brat isn’t dealt with, I’ll never be able to quell my anger!"
As their fury raged, the phone rang. One of the judges answered. After a few brief words from the other side, his anger faded, replaced by a grave expression.
"Are you sure? Is there any mistake?"
...
"Alright, I understand."
After hanging up, even his breath seemed weakened. His pupils were filled with deep concern.
The others couldn’t help but ask,
"Old Bai, what’s going on?"
Old Bai cast a meaningful glance at the group, swallowed hard, and moved his lips.
"That Azure Dragon and White Tiger formation—it belongs to the Ling family!"
"What did you say?"
"The formation we saw that day, crafted by human hands—it’s Ling family’s!"
The car fell instantly silent. They exchanged looks, each recognizing the fear in the other’s eyes.
The Ling family can forge the Azure Dragon and White Tiger formation?
Whether or not Ling Xiao himself created it, the Ling family’s power is terrifying—far beyond anything ordinary people could match. If that’s true, then Ling Xiao... truly no one can oppose him at will.
Not to mention Ling Xiao may very well be that mysterious master; even if he isn’t, he still belongs to the Ling family. Possessing such power is frightening in the extreme.
...
No sooner had the Dragon Group left, than a bright red Maserati pulled up in front of the Ling family’s medical clinic.
Two women stepped out of the car. One wore an office lady’s suit, looking sharp and professional—a white-collar worker, surely. The other wore a pale blue floral dress, oversized sunglasses, the picture of an artistic young woman.
Though others couldn’t see her face, her every movement revealed her exquisite beauty. Her bearing was so noble, she scarcely seemed mortal.
The woman in the office suit glanced at the clinic’s entrance and muttered,
"Yixuan, are you really going to see such a quack? Why don’t we go abroad and find some famous professors instead?"
The girl called Yixuan gave a bitter smile.
"Sister Zhang, please don’t say that. I know my illness. Even abroad, there’s nothing to be done—it would only waste more time. Right now, I’ve lost almost all hope. It was Sister Xia who persuaded me to come; she said the doctor here is extraordinary. Perhaps this is my last chance."
"Cai Xiaoya’s word isn’t trustworthy! She and her grandfather have fled to Jiangzhou to settle here, likely fearing you’d expose her whereabouts. She gave you this hope just so you’d owe her a favor! If the doctor here were so skilled, the place wouldn’t be deserted! Look around—not a soul. That says plenty about his medical skills."
"Enough, Sister Zhang. No matter what, I’m already here. Let me try. If I don’t, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life!"
"Fine, but I’m telling you now—I’ll stay right by your side during treatment. If he tries anything improper, it’ll be trouble. These so-called quacks are the least reliable!"
"Alright, my dear sister. Don’t worry."
The two women approached, just as Ling Xiao came out carrying a teacup. The three met, and Ling Xiao frowned slightly.
"What are you here for?"
"Hello, we’ve come to see the doctor."
"We’re closed today."
