Volume One, Chapter One: The End Times of the White Mist—Unlimited Supplies!
Lin Feng rushed into his rented apartment, locking the security door behind him with a sharp click. Panting heavily, he collapsed onto the sofa and pulled out his phone, quickly posting an ad in the Prosperous Jiangnan Community group.
Stuffed and satisfied: [@everyone Looking for a cohabiting roommate, all meals and accommodation included. Requirements: good looks and a great figure. Add me as a friend and send a full-body selfie without filters first!]
The moment his message was sent, the group exploded.
Building D #702 Aunt Wang: [Young people these days are really shameless! Desperate much!]
Building C #1204 Uncle Li Gang: [Brother, what's the point of photos? I've got several terabytes of study materials, I'll give them to you for free, guaranteed to satisfy!]
Building B #2306 Xiao Qi: [Disgusting! If I ever find out who you are, I'll expose you on social media and let the whole internet see your true colors!]
Building B #601 Community Committee Aunt Chen: [This is a special time, resources should be shared! Trading food for women is illegal, you have until midnight to deliver your food to my home for distribution. You can redeem yourself this way!]
Building C #2802 Elderly Dance Partner Grandpa Wang: [Young man, you want a woman, you need some skills. A box of instant noodles and I'll teach you to dance, guaranteed you'll learn!]
Building A #603 Blossoms Under the Moon: [Is the group admin dead? Kick this disrespectful garbage out!]
Lin Feng watched the messages flood in, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly, utterly unruffled.
He couldn’t possibly be kicked out.
Because he was the group admin.
Lin Feng worked as a food delivery rider and part-time errand runner. He had originally created the group for work, but over the years, its numbers grew, eventually becoming the official group for the Prosperous Jiangnan community.
He posted ads for beautiful roommates in this thousand-strong group not out of desperation or lust.
Three days ago, he had bound himself to a system.
[Infinite Supply System]
[Residents: 1]
[Infinite Supplies: For every resident who meets the system's standards that the host takes in, a new supply type is unlocked, with a +1 effect per second, no upper limit!]
[Unlocked Supplies: Roast Chicken]
[Super Warehouse: Infinite space, time stops!]
Lin Feng had a beautiful ex-girlfriend; though they had broken up over three months ago, the system still counted her.
As for when he could take in a new resident and unlock new supplies?
Lin Feng wasn’t in a hurry.
Most tenants in Prosperous Jiangnan were young and not accustomed to stockpiling supplies. Shopping was out of the question now anyway.
Three days ago, the entire world changed dramatically.
Lin Feng walked to the balcony, gazing through the security window into the distance.
A dense white mist half-shrouded the towering TV tower and office buildings. He lived on the 30th floor; everything below the 20th had been swallowed completely by the fog.
This was no ordinary fog.
Thick tree branches poked out of the mist nearby. But none of the community’s trees ever grew twenty floors high.
Each leaf was the size of an adult’s palm, with droplets of crimson between the branches like fruit.
Just this morning, he’d seen a two-meter-long giant rat scurry across his security window, moving at incredible speed.
Southern rats were large, but nothing this absurd.
Plants and animals were growing wild; bacteria and microbes proliferated crazily.
Lin Feng returned to the room and brought out a plate of roast chicken from the fridge.
The once golden-brown skin now reeked with a pungent rot, covered in bluish-black mold, utterly inedible.
It was leftover from breakfast, in the fridge barely two hours.
Shaking his head, Lin Feng carried the plate to the balcony.
He opened the small door in the security window and tossed it out.
The roast chicken arced through the air, vanishing into the white fog, stirring a faint ripple.
Food was spoiling rapidly, impossible to store for long unless vacuum-packed.
Though Lin Feng had endless roast chicken, he still wanted to stockpile other foods as soon as possible.
Ten minutes ago, he’d stepped outside, hoping to try his luck at the Wanda Mall across the street.
But the fog was so thick, visibility was less than three meters, and even a flashlight couldn’t cut through.
He had just reached the ground floor when a shrill scream echoed from deep within the mist, as if someone were being torn apart alive.
Then came the sound of some animal gnawing bones.
His heart clenched. He turned and sprinted back home, running all the way.
Lin Feng glanced at his phone; it was lunchtime.
A steaming, fragrant roast chicken materialized in his hand, the rich aroma flooding the room.
Food was no issue for him—the system spawned a roast chicken every second, adding up to 86,400 a day.
The only trouble was, no matter how delicious, too much roast chicken would make anyone sick of it.
For now, water, electricity, and gas were still supplied, but the tap water was riddled with microbial problems.
That morning, Lin Feng had watched in horror as a lump of green unknown plant burst from the faucet.
He immediately switched to bottled water stored in the super warehouse.
Even bathing required boiling water first.
But given the wild mutations of plants and animals, power and water cuts were only a matter of time.
Gnawing his roast chicken, Lin Feng scrolled through short videos and comments on his phone, his brows knitting tighter and tighter.
[Today’s Headlines: White mist disaster sweeps the globe, the world enters apocalyptic era, mutated plants and animals threaten human survival!]
[Information Security Department: Residents are urged to avoid going outside, do not leave pets indoors, actively seek self-rescue, and await official aid!]
[Mobile Communications: To cope with the mist disaster, all calls and data are free until the disaster ends!]
[Help! Three cockroaches bigger than dogs appeared in my kitchen, what do I do? Waiting online, urgent!]
[That’s nothing, my neighbor was eaten by a mutated cat last night…]
[Look here, I can spit fire from my mouth—this era was custom-made for me!][Image]
[So jealous! There really are people with superpowers!]
[Looking for a superpowered sponsor! I’m 18, fair-skinned and beautiful, with a cute voice, bringing my own stockings and school uniform!][Image]
[Upstairs, the powder on your face could build a wall!]
[Get lost!]
The screen was filled with chaotic messages, none offering hope.
The source of the white mist disaster was unknown, its end even more distant.
Since the day before yesterday, people had begun posting videos of superpowers online.
But Lin Feng searched the entire internet and found no clue how to acquire them.
Suddenly, a woman’s scream rang out from the B block across the way.
“Help! Somebody save me!”
Lin Feng hurried to the balcony and looked down at the 27th floor of B block.
A woman with disheveled hair staggered onto the balcony, terror etched across her face as she glanced back toward her living room.
