Before Wang Tao could finish speaking, he was struck hard across the face.

Fearing he might see through her scheme, Li Bing struck first.

The slap worked. His suspicions were cut short in an instant.

Clutching his burning cheek, Wang Tao gazed at his fiancée with wounded eyes.

“Baby, why did you hit me?”

Li Bing sprang to her feet and seized him by the ear.

Tears shimmered in her eyes as she put on a pitiful expression.

“You bastard! What filthy thoughts were you having just now?

“Am I not doing all this so the two of us can survive? If you had any ability at all, you would dare to steal Lin Feng’s food. But you’re completely useless.

“I was even willing to sacrifice my own body to get food for you, and this is how you repay me—by suspecting me?”

After the scolding, combined with Li Bing’s tears, the last traces of doubt in Wang Tao’s mind quickly vanished.

“Baby never even used to look at that deliveryman, Lin Feng. And now, for my sake, she’s actually willing to walk straight into the lion’s den...”

Thinking this, Wang Tao hurriedly lowered his head and admitted his mistake, his voice softening.

Just as Li Bing expected, Wang Tao’s expression shifted uneasily at her words, anger flickering in his eyes.

She knew that all she needed was one final push.

Watching the woman he loved dress herself up to please another man, Wang Tao felt both touched and tormented.

He hated his own weakness and incompetence. He had actually been reduced to making his fiancée sell her body in exchange for food.

The helplessness nearly suffocated him.

Once her makeup was finished, Li Bing looked radiant. The foundation perfectly concealed her pallid complexion.

To ensure the plan succeeded, she changed into alluring black stockings and high heels.

Her entire figure possessed a breathtaking, provocative beauty.

She picked up a handbag and prepared to leave.

Wang Tao trembled all over, still caught in agony and indecision.

At last, he could not hold back. He stepped forward, his voice hoarse.

“Baby, you can’t go. What if that bastard forces himself on you?”

Li Bing gave him a sorrowful smile and said in a trembling voice,

“I... I brought condoms...”

A buzzing filled Wang Tao’s head. He staggered backward two steps.

He had never imagined that Li Bing would prepare something like that.

All he felt was a surge of fury trapped in his chest, ready to explode.

His fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles cracked, his fingernails digging deep into his palms.

“Baby, I’m going with you. It’s only food, isn’t it? We’ll take it all!”

“Really?”

Li Bing’s heart leaped with joy. Her plan had succeeded.

Yet she maintained an expression of grief and desolation.

She had no intention of facing Lin Feng alone.

Without Wang Tao there to intimidate him, what if that deliveryman’s lust got the better of him?

As long as they secured enough food, they could wait for the authorities to send help.

Once the white-fog disaster ended, she would continue plotting to seize the Wang family’s fortune.

Besides, she had already trained Wang Tao to obey her completely. He would be easy to control.

As for Lin Feng, he was nothing more than an emergency food ticket in the apocalypse.

Though Wang Tao was burning with rage, the cowardice in his bones was not so easily changed.

“Baby, if I take the things from Lin Feng’s place and the police catch me, will you wait for me?”

Li Bing despised him to the depths of her heart, but she merely offered him a tender smile. Her voice was as gentle as though she were coaxing a child.

“How about this? We’ll bring cash with us. After we take the food, we’ll pay Lin Feng for it. We’ll be buying it openly—how could anyone call that stealing?”

Wang Tao was already dizzy with infatuation under Li Bing’s tender words.

The moment he heard they would not technically be stealing anything, he nodded vigorously, a grin spreading across his face.

“My baby really is clever. We’ll do exactly that!”

Li Bing picked up Wang Tao’s phone and sent Lin Feng a voice message, her tone carrying a hint of seduction.

“This is Li Bing. I’ll come over and spend the night with you, but you have to give me five roast chickens!”

Though Wang Tao had been mentally prepared, he still flew into a rage when he heard this. The fat on his face trembled.

“Baby, how could you say that to him...”

“I’m only deceiving him. Otherwise, how would we get him to open the door?”

Li Bing glared at Wang Tao impatiently.

“We need him to lower his guard and open the door so you can go in and take the food. Don’t worry. I’m doing this so we can survive.”

Lin Feng replied soon afterward.

Li Bing set down her handbag and took a package of stockings into the bathroom.

When she emerged again, the black stockings on her legs had been replaced with fishnet ones.

Her long, shapely legs left Wang Tao staring in a daze.

“Why do you have to listen to him?”

“What a stupid question. What if Lin Feng uses that as an excuse not to open the door?”

Wang Tao nodded reluctantly, but he was still displeased.

He had never seen Li Bing wear fishnet stockings before.

Li Bing concealed a can of pepper spray and a small folding knife inside her handbag.

Wang Tao gripped the large cleaver tightly, his gaze vicious.
