Volume One, Chapter 15: You Looked So Lonely, So I Found You a Little Sister!
Wang Tao and Li Bing lived on the 19th floor, now completely shrouded in a thick white fog that reduced visibility inside their home to less than three meters.
Opening the door, the mist drifted slowly, and the hallway was eerily silent, sending chills down their spines.
Though Li Bing spoke toughly, her legs trembled uncontrollably the moment she stepped outside.
Wang Tao was equally frightened—who knew what lurked hidden within the fog?
Could some kind of mutated beast suddenly burst out?
In recent days, he had often seen enormous insects clinging to the windows; just the thought sent shivers down his spine.
But with his fiancée right behind him, he forced himself to move forward.
“Baby, stay close to me. We’ll reach the elevator soon,” he whispered.
Li Bing responded softly with a barely audible “Mm,” her eyes darting anxiously around.
Wang Tao took a deep breath, clutching tightly to the large kitchen knife in his hand.
Step by cautious step, they crept toward the elevator, their footsteps as light as a cat’s, fearful of disturbing anything that shouldn’t be disturbed.
Yesterday, Wang Tao had heard the elevator moving up and down—it should still be operational.
Otherwise, they’d have to climb over ten floors on foot.
In the past, this would have been nothing more than tiring; with grit, they could manage it.
But now, both were weak from hunger, likely to collapse halfway.
Only faint footsteps echoed in the corridor, the silence making their hearts race.
From afar, strange animal roars occasionally rang out, causing Li Bing’s heart to pound wildly, and she even regretted stepping outside.
She clung tightly to Wang Tao’s jacket, her fingers trembling.
Wang Tao, unwilling to endure this nerve-wracking tension any longer, suddenly had an idea.
“Baby, since we’re going to steal Lin Feng’s food anyway, why don’t we take over his apartment too? He lives on the 30th floor, where there’s no fog and life would be much easier.”
Li Bing’s eyes lit up, surprised that this coward had finally had a moment of clarity.
“That’s a good idea. You’re so smart.”
Buoyed by her praise, Wang Tao felt a surge of confidence about their plan and couldn’t help but raise his voice.
“We’ll take his food, then kick him out. He’d better starve to death outside—then no one can accuse me of robbery…”
“Quiet!” Li Bing shot him a fierce glare, lowering her voice sharply.
“Do you want the whole building to hear our plan?”
Startled, Wang Tao shrank back, nodding sheepishly.
“I’ll be quieter…”
The two approached the elevator with trepidation and found it still functional.
They dared not speak, holding their breath as they waited silently for it to rise.
At that moment, Li Bing noticed a half-meter-tall patch of mint growing nearby.
Clearly a mutated plant—how else could it have grown so tall from a crack in the tile floor?
What caught her eye most was a bright red fruit, plum-sized, perched atop the mint.
“Hmm? Mint can bear fruit?”
Wang Tao was too focused on the elevator indicator to catch her words.
“What did you say? The elevator’s almost here.”
“Nothing. Let’s hurry inside. I feel a cold breeze coming.”
Li Bing plucked the red fruit from the mint and slipped it quietly into her handbag.
If Lin Feng’s place lacked food, she would have to risk eating this fruit to stave off hunger.
She was starving. Had it not grown on a mutated plant, she would have eaten it immediately.
As for whether Wang Tao had food—what did she care?
Suddenly, she heard heavy footsteps approaching from the stairwell, like some massive creature drawing near.
Alarmed, she realized mutated beasts were coming.
“Quick, get in! I hear a monster coming.”
She stepped past Wang Tao and rushed into the elevator, frantically pressing the door close button.
Wang Tao snapped out of his daze and followed her inside.
The large kitchen knife in his hand felt utterly useless now, providing no sense of security.
Once the elevator doors closed completely, they both exhaled in relief but remained silent.
“Ding!” The 30th floor arrived!
The doors opened slowly; Wang Tao cautiously peeked out, eyes scanning everywhere.
No fog here, sunlight streamed down the corridor, offering clear visibility.
After a careful sweep to confirm no mutated animals were nearby, he whispered, “Let’s go.”
They crept toward Lin Feng’s apartment, Li Bing whispering their plan.
“I’ll knock on the door. You stay here and don’t let the peephole see you. Once the door opens, I’ll block Lin Feng, and you rush in.”
Wang Tao nodded. The courage he had barely mustered in the elevator was already fading.
His legs shook, and he was so nervous he struggled to speak.
“Okay... I got it.”
“Can you even do this?”
Faced with a challenge to his manhood, Wang Tao weakly patted his chest, voice trembling.
“Of course I can…”
Li Bing felt a pang of disdain but said nothing further.
She took out a compact mirror, tidied her clothes and makeup, then put on a pitiful expression as she approached Lin Feng’s door.
Glancing left and right to ensure no one was watching, she gently pressed the doorbell, her voice frail as if she might collapse any second.
“Lin Feng, it’s Li Bing. Please open the door quickly.”
Unbeknownst to them, from the moment they stepped off the elevator, Lin Feng had watched their every move.
To be fair, Zhang Xueqi’s peephole was indeed effective; the entire corridor was under surveillance, complete with a large monitor.
Lin Feng watched as Li Bing reached his door.
Wang Tao stood nearby, clutching his kitchen knife tightly, pressed against the wall, ready to spring.
In just a few days, Li Bing had become slimmer, though her chest remained impressively ample and her hips still rounded.
Her face and waist appeared thinner, clearly from hunger.
Li Bing stood close to the door, trying to block the peephole’s view.
Wang Tao positioned himself about two meters away, convinced he had evaded the peephole.
Little did they know, Zhang Xueqi’s peephole had captured their every move in crystal-clear detail.
“So, they have no good intentions...” Lin Feng sneered, his mind quickly forming a plan.
Zhang Xueqi, watching the screen, whispered in surprise, “Lin Feng, that fat guy is holding a knife. What does he want to do?”
She was not worried for her own safety.
Lin Feng’s strong physique gave her complete confidence.
The pale-faced man with the kitchen knife looked like he hadn’t eaten in ages.
How could such a person be a threat to Lin Feng?
Besides, their security door was sturdy; a kitchen knife was useless for prying it open.
What surprised Zhang Xueqi most was how quickly order was collapsing.
Less than a week had passed, and now someone was already trying to break in with a knife?
Lin Feng chuckled softly, replying, “I thought you’d be lonely, so I found you a little sister.”
Zhang Xueqi’s feelings were complex; the woman outside was indeed beautiful.
The thought of a newcomer entering the household stirred a bittersweet feeling in her heart.
But on reflection, it wasn’t so bad.
More women meant sharing the burden of firepower.
After Lin Feng’s transformation, she truly struggled to withstand the relentless onslaught.
