Volume 1, Chapter 38: What’s the Big Deal About a Wart? The Odds of Winning Are Infectious!
Wang Xiaoli was already at the peak of her temper, and these words only made her head spin with frustration.
"You brat, is that any way to talk to your sister?"
Wang Xiaohu stomped his feet in anger, wishing he could kneel and kowtow in his sister's place. "Sis, it’s just a kowtow. Think of it as a game between lovers—don't tell me you haven't knelt before!"
Hearing this, Wang Xiaoli didn't know how to retort. "How did I end up with a foolish brother like you? That bastard is deliberately trying to humiliate me."
"So what if he humiliates you? It’s better than starving to death together, isn't it?"
Wang Xiaohu turned and stormed into the bedroom in a rage.
*Bang!*
The door slammed shut—a loud release of his pent-up frustration.
Wang Xiaoli felt a pang of regret; she really should have just kowtowed earlier. It was true, as her brother said—she had knelt before, so why care so much about what others thought? Once she moved into Lin Feng’s home, wouldn't it be easy enough to just kick those two sluts out?
Back when she graduated from high school, Wang Xiaoli had set her sights on the handsome Lin Feng. Moreover, he was already working and could provide her with money. In college, her roommates had all envied her for having a boyfriend who was both handsome and capable of earning a living. But as Wang Xiaoli passed the civil service exam and secured a stable position, Lin Feng, a mere food delivery driver, became a burden—how embarrassing it would be to tell people about him. And so, she had dumped him without hesitation.
Who could have foreseen the white fog catastrophe? The former bottom-tier delivery driver had leaped to become a superior being, clutching vast resources in his hands. Lin Feng was now the equivalent of a pre-apocalyptic billionaire. Kneeling and kowtowing to a man like that wasn't entirely impossible...
Wang Xiaoli stared intently at Lin Feng’s WeChat profile picture, unable to make up her mind. This was also because she had just finished a bowl of dog food soup; with something in her stomach, she could hold out for another two days.
"Let’s wait two more days. There’s still food left anyway. Maybe he’ll realize he was wrong soon?"

After spending several hours playing and frolicking with Zhang Xueqi and Li Bing, Lin Feng’s figure appeared without warning in a room downstairs. The owner had not returned, and he had already cleared out the belongings when he picked the lock earlier. Every room above the white fog level had been thoroughly looted. Now, he was setting his sights on the fog-shrouded apartments where no one was home.
He arrived at a room on the 21st floor. It was thick with white fog, with visibility less than three meters. However, his Level 3 "Destiny" ability allowed him to sense everything within a 50-meter radius. Lin Feng swiftly took everything he could see in the room. Since his super-warehouse was infinitely large, not filling it up would be a waste of space.
Basic necessities like food and medicine went without saying—everything was taken. He also gathered cooking seasonings, unopened oil, salt, and MSG. He even cleared out condoms, birth control pills, and shampoo.
Appliances, furniture, snacks, and soda were all packed away.
Lin Feng had been busy for three hours, and by now, the sky was nearly dark. He had descended to the second floor of Block A. The supplies he had collected during this time were enough for one person to live on for a decade.
The further down he went, the darker it became. It wasn't even nightfall yet, but the second floor was pitch black. Coupled with the white fog blocking his vision, even a flashlight barely helped. The entire apartment reeked of mold and decay. With overgrown plants and vines snaking in from the outside, the place looked like a museum of wild nature.
What was more concerning were the small animals scurrying everywhere: two-meter-long rats and cockroaches the size of a human half-torso. Lin Feng even spotted several fleas the size of a fist. Most impressive of all were the nearly three hundred ants, each larger than a dog, crawling along the exterior wall outside the window—it was like a veritable army of beasts!
Lin Feng understood clearly: ordinary people without superpowers or firearms could not survive in this environment.
Just then, he sensed movement in the room below. He flicked his figure and arrived inside a unit on the first floor of Block A. There was a faint sound at the security door; it seemed someone was picking the lock.
Outside the door, a young man and woman were lingering. The man held a few tools, while the woman used her phone to provide light.
*Click!*
A sudden sound rang out, and the security door swung open.
The sight left Lin Feng stunned. *Holy crap!* There were actually technical talents like this? Opening a security door was something an average person couldn't do. Otherwise, Chen Hao wouldn't have needed to form some bullshit guard team—he could have just taken Xu Xiaodong and Liu Jie to empty out the supplies. The man outside was either a locksmith or a professional thief.
Yang Shu looked proudly at his female companion, boasting, "Xiaofei, see that? I told you there isn't a lock I can't open, security doors included."
Before the white fog catastrophe, he had been a petty thief everyone despised. But in this apocalypse, his skills were exceptionally useful. Over the past few days, thanks to this talent, he had obtained plenty of food and was eating and drinking well every day.
Pan Xiaofei’s eyes sparkled, and she put on a coquettish, nasal tone. "Giegie, you're so amazing! You're the best! From today on, you're my idol!"
Yang Shu thoroughly enjoyed the flattery. He grabbed Pan Xiaofei’s hand, his desire undisguised. "Don't worry, Xiaofei, stick with me and you'll definitely be well-fed. That guy in the group who's always bragging about being full—what of it? His fridge is only so big; once the food is gone, he’ll be starving. But I’m different. I can pick the locks of every single house. Once we finish this building, we can move to the next, then to another residential complex. We’ll definitely make it until the official rescue arrives!"
Hidden in the white fog, Lin Feng smiled slightly. *You're a step too late, kid. All that's left for you is the floorboards.* He had already emptied out all the ownerless supplies in the entire Block A building.
Pan Xiaofei, feeling the weight of Yang Shu's gaze, hurriedly pulled her hand back and lowered her head shyly. "Brother Yang, I... I’m not that kind of woman."
Despite saying that, the two quickly found a corner and began making out. They didn't notice the audience member not far away in the white fog, who found the display quite an eyesore.
Lin Feng looked at the young woman, and a system prompt immediately appeared:
[Pan Xiaofei]
[Age: 26]
[Occupation: Foot Bath Technician]
[Appearance: 40 points] (Below average)
[Other: 0 points] (She’s got the clap, the warts, and the whole package—the odds of infection are 100%!)
[Comprehensive Rating: 0 points]
[Does not meet system standards!]
*Holy crap! A viral carrier!*
Lin Feng was shocked once again. It was his first time seeing a "double-zero" master. He immediately teleported to the room next door. Microbes and viruses were mutating wildly now, and he worried that simply standing close by might lead to infection. He didn't want to accidentally explode just because he took an extra look.
*What a pity,* he thought, *such a technical talent, but she’s likely doomed.*
Lin Feng used his [Instantaneous Movement] ability again, teleporting to the entrance of the Block A complex. It was already covered in weeds and vines. They had become a new gate, even sturdier than the original glass doors. In the darkness where sunlight was blocked, countless unnamed insects crawled about. Lin Feng even saw an earthworm over three meters long burrowing out of the soil.
*If I used that thing to go fishing,* he mused, *I bet I wouldn't come home empty-handed.*
