“Ewok jerky?” Tang Xiao frowned.

These people had gone to capture some Ewoks, killed them, and made jerky out of their meat. He knew such food was popular in certain places, but what he found utterly unacceptable was that Ewoks were already an intelligent species. Although primitive, they could think and possessed their own civilization.

Tang Xiao knew that although Ewoks were Neolithic primitives, their brains and bodies had evolved sufficiently.

They were a very clever race, highly receptive to external influences. Despite their small stature, they were surprisingly strong and extremely agile. In Tang Xiao’s view, Ewoks were perfect scouts, jungle warriors, and mechanical engineers.

Thus, under Tang Xiao’s instructions, the inhabitants of the Fourth Civilization colony were all showing goodwill toward the Ewoks. They offered food and helped them build simple wooden huts. Work on deciphering the Ewok language was also underway, though their language was quite primitive, so progress was slow.

Because of this relationship, Tang Xiao absolutely would not tolerate anyone hunting Ewoks for jerky.

However, this kind of thing was quite common in the Star Wars universe—many intelligent species ended up on the menus of others. Maybe that was the barrier between different races, like humans eating beef on Earth. If cows ever became intelligent, could you guarantee people wouldn’t still eat them?

After all, we’re all human. As long as we don’t eat each other, it’s fine. I’m a human, they’re cattle—does it matter if they’re intelligent? Can’t I still eat them? Most would think that way.

“And this batch is for Jabba the Hutt. You know I don’t dare cross him,” Kunto quickly added, seeing Tang Xiao hesitate.

“Jabba…” Tang Xiao’s expression shifted, and he fell into deep thought. If Jabba was involved, this was serious.

Jabba was one of the greatest crime lords among the Hutts, a member of the Desilijic kajidic clan. He ruled the crime empire centered on Tatooine. Crossing such a figure was never a wise move.

Tang Xiao stared at Kunto for a long time. Kunto was a rare native of the Star Wars universe who had come knocking on their door. Being a smuggler who roamed everywhere, he was exactly the kind of guide Tang Xiao needed to help them further explore this galaxy.

With this in mind, Tang Xiao nodded and said, “You can deliver this cargo to Tatooine, but on one condition—starting today, you’re an employee of our Fourth Group. That includes your ship; it’s now property of the Fourth Group. We’ll send someone with you to Tatooine.”

“No! The Cheap Hunter is my lifeline! You can’t take it away!” Kunto shouted loudly.

“You bastard!” Mars Ferasi snarled, charging at Tang Xiao to strike him. But Tang Xiao raised his hand and pushed into the air; an invisible force sent her flying!

Ferasi crashed to the ground, disoriented. She struggled to her feet, fear shining in her eyes as she looked at Tang Xiao. “Are you… a Jedi?”

Tang Xiao remained silent. He extended two fingers and said, “I’m giving you two choices. First, be killed by me and discarded like garbage in space. Second, work for me. If you satisfy me, you’ll get a better ship.”

“Do I really have a choice?” Kunto helped Ferasi up, smiling wryly.

“The results of working for me have already been shown to you. Think about the comfortable life you’ve had these past few days—something you’ll never find elsewhere in the galaxy. Now, it’s your turn to convince the others,” Tang Xiao stood and prepared to leave.

“What about our payment?” Kunto asked, mustering courage.

Payment? Not a single credit for me either! Tang Xiao cursed silently but smiled mysteriously, spreading his arms and surveying the spacious, bright office. “Do you think there’s any condition the Fourth Group can’t meet?”

Kunto and Ferasi glanced around the expansive office before obediently lowering their heads.

“Get ready. I’ll go with you to Tatooine. Ferasi will need to rest here for a while,” Tang Xiao said, dropping this line before turning away.

Upon hearing this, Kunto immediately realized Ferasi was a hostage. He looked up to speak but was silenced by Ferasi’s warning glance.

...

Two days later, with Tang Xiao’s approval, the Fourth Civilization was officially named as their group’s designation, and they prepared to establish a company to facilitate operations, called the Fourth Group.

The colony under construction was named “Dawn City” by Tang Xiao, destined to be the future capital of the Fourth Civilization.

Soon after, Tang Xiao issued a regulation requiring every family to adopt a child as their ward. These children were among the 5 billion frozen embryos stored on the mothership. Their genes were modified so they would reach adulthood in about ten years—more advanced than clones, essentially artificial humans.

The purpose of family adoption was to let them experience warmth and care, so they wouldn’t grow up as mere tools from a cold storage. To keep pace with their accelerated growth, these children received nightly knowledge infusion while sleeping.

This policy naturally utilized the frozen embryos and integrated them into society upon maturity. Since all resources were rationed, there was no worry about the cost of raising them.

Additionally, Tang Xiao devised a secret plan. He instructed the engineering department to build a secret base in a remote area of Dawn Planet under suitable conditions. This base would operate under strict military management, cultivating frozen embryos in batches who would only be taught warfare and killing skills.

The first batch consisted of 100 warriors beginning their growth here. As the base expanded, the number of warriors would increase.

This was Tang Xiao’s trump card for the impending war—a force without a name, only a designation: the Fourth Legion.

Every uniform bore a symbol: 4TH.

These 100 warriors were a seed. The Fourth Civilization could not yet support more soldiers or larger training facilities, but Tang Xiao believed that one day, 4TH would become a power that would shake the entire galaxy.

Note 1: Kajidic is a form of organization among the Hutts that governs members’ mindset, daily lives, and criminal enterprises. The Hutts have many Kajidics, each with its own rules, leaders, and structure. Jabba belongs to the Desilijic Kajidic, one of the largest Hutt clans.

For clarity, Kajidic will be referred to as “tribe” in subsequent text.
