Chapter 068: The Perfect Conclusion to the Journey in the City of Chance
He started the car and pulled away from the hotel, merging onto the main road.
Though the night was already deep, the streets of the gambling city were still ablaze with neon lights. The principal avenue was vibrant and teeming with energy, painting the city in colors that could easily make anyone lose themselves in its dazzling prosperity.
The broad road made it easy for one's right foot to get out of control.
Li Lekang’s spirits soared. He pressed the sport mode, switched to manual, and floored the accelerator, roaring down the street. The sharp, resonant sound of the exhaust echoed along the avenue.
“Woohoo!”
Sophia, in the passenger seat, screamed, raising her hands to touch the roof. The alcohol had made her exuberant; she shouted, “Let’s open it up!”
“OK!”
Li Lekang was in a playful mood too. He opened the top and sped down the road.
Sophia lifted her hands into the air, feeling the wild wind and cheering loudly.
“I haven’t felt so free and reckless in ages! Just like that song lyric—who let the dogs out!”
Li Lekang glanced at her and laughed, “Just don’t turn this into a real-life Hangover!”
“Haha!” She clearly caught the reference. “Hey, look behind us!”
Li Lekang was about to say something when he caught a glimpse of flashing red and blue lights in the rearview mirror. A moment later, the siren wailed twice—a police car had pulled in behind them.
“Oh no! The cops!”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got this.”
Getting pulled over in America wasn’t unusual, but running now would be pure madness. It would trigger a chase from every police car in the area, helicopters overhead, and news crews broadcasting your foolishness live.
Li Lekang turned on his signal, pulled over slowly, and placed both hands on the steering wheel, waiting for the officer to approach.
Soon, a rotund policeman climbed out of the patrol car behind them.
He walked up with a flashlight, glanced at the jewel-bedecked woman in her oversized sunglasses, then at Li Lekang, who was dressed in a matching style: “Party, convertible, and a wild night, huh?”
“Sorry, officer,” Li Lekang replied with a smile.
“I smell alcohol. How much have you had?” the policeman asked.
“Just a small glass.” Li Lekang gestured with his fingers.
“A small glass? Step out of the car! I need you to take a sobriety test, now!” the officer barked.
“Alright, no need to be so rough—well, fine! I just happen to want to walk in a straight line!”
Li Lekang was bold, exceptionally so.
“Pfft!”
Something about that hit Sophia’s funny bone, but when the officer glanced at her, her alcohol-flushed cheeks immediately made her behave. “I—I can’t walk in a straight line!”
“You’re the passenger, you don’t have to. Good grief!” Li Lekang said, exasperated.
While the officer turned, she mouthed and gestured at him.
Li Lekang shrugged—he wasn’t worried. He hadn’t drunk much, and all that playfulness earlier had mostly worn off. Besides, American sobriety tests are interesting.
Unlike in China, where you blow directly into a device, here it’s more about human judgment. The officer might wave a finger before your eyes, asking you to track its movement.
But the most classic method is, of course—walking a straight line.
Heel to toe, walk forward along a line.
It’s the most nerve-wracking, yet laughable part. If you’re truly drunk, you’ll never walk straight—there will be plenty of stumbles. If you’re sober, you’ll walk steadily, and driving won’t be an issue.
Sophia watched him nervously from the car. She knew Li Lekang had been drinking, so she wasn’t sure he’d pass.
If he messed up, he might end up in jail.
Tonight was truly thrilling!
The officer pointed to a white line on the ground, indicating he should walk a couple steps.
For Li Lekang, it was a piece of cake. He spread his arms for balance, heel to toe, walked easily forward, and even added a flourish, sliding back.
“What are you doing?” the officer demanded sternly.
“Why not add a little fun to your tedious job, officer?” Li Lekang replied with a grin.
In America, unless you’re Black—who are more likely to be scrutinized by police—other ethnicities usually fare better. Li Lekang’s words seemed to work their way into the officer’s mind.
The officer’s mood brightened; he saw no need to be a jerk and let them go. “No drinking and driving, and passengers must not engage in dangerous behavior!”
“Yes, sir!”
Li Lekang looked serious, and the officer waved him off with a smile.
Li Lekang got back in the car and drove off. Once they’d traveled far enough to be sure the police weren’t following, the two burst into triumphant laughter.
“How did you pull that off?”
“How could I not?”
She was certain he’d had more than one drink.
“Because I’m a magician!” Li Lekang maintained his air of mystery. “Maybe he recognized me—who doesn’t love me?”
“Hahaha, you’re so proud!” Sophia laughed, “But I don’t really want to go out anymore. I don’t know how much more excitement I can handle tonight.”
“It’s alright.”
Li Lekang adjusted the rearview mirror, then, seeing her tipsy expression, couldn’t resist leaning over and kissing her red lips.
Sophia didn’t resist. Her curiosity, surprise, and anticipation melted into a passionate response. The two embraced, oblivious to the world, indulging in a fervent kiss inside the car.
Li Lekang felt the surge of her intense passion.
It ignited them like fire.
He whispered in her ear, “Can I take you away?”
“I don’t like questions,” she breathed, “because I might say no!”
“If you say no, I’ll use magic to make you disappear!” Li Lekang laughed, biting her ear gently, feeling her body tremble as if electrified.
It seemed this long night would not be monotonous.
Li Lekang turned the car around and headed back to the hotel.
He didn’t return to his own room, but to a floor leased by the Saint Group.
It was a precaution against being ambushed by a girl in the middle of the night.
Ever since Stell had taken the helm, as a special advisor, the white-suited Saint staff no longer acted as arrogantly as before; instead, they greeted him with politeness and enthusiasm, always ready to help.
He chose a vacant suite at random, pulled Sophia inside, kicked the door shut, and was immediately pressed against the door by her heated body, the impact thudding loudly.
Whatever he was about to say became muffled as she silenced him, and Li Lekang held tightly to the body that so many men had obsessed over, determined to prove himself.
...
The stallion galloped through the night, leaving Li Lekang utterly invigorated.
Nothing could feel more triumphant than conquering the goddess coveted by countless men.
Otherwise, wouldn’t it be better to find a fresh eighteen-year-old girl? That’s the so-called brand effect.
Li Lekang mused.
He lingered in bed after waking at noon, and when he rolled over, the warmth remained. Opening his eyes, he saw the alluring mother turned away, slipping on her underwear. Sensing his gaze, she glanced back with a dazzling smile.
“Oh, you’re awake. Thank you for a wonderful night.”
“Thank you for your enchanting charm,” Li Lekang replied.
“So then...” She leaned over and kissed his cheek. “If there’s another chance, I’ll keep trying to uncover the secrets of your magic!”
“Go for it, you’re almost there!” he laughed.
“Bye~”
Sophia picked up her heels and walked out in a cloud of fragrance.
As a psychologically mature, experienced woman, she never mistook a fleeting affair for genuine emotion. Her attitude was naturally carefree.
But Li Lekang adored such sensible women! Clean and decisive, willing to meet again if opportunity arose, without clinging—absolutely perfect!
So, young girls have their charms, but older women have their own magic.
For a pure LSP like him, his tastes could change as he pleased.
He felt that now, his trip to the city of casinos was truly complete!
His fame and status were secure; the love of the audience and the ratings were the best proof, and now the internet was abuzz with discussions about the wonders of his magic!
As a reincarnated man with superpowers living in America, if he didn’t enjoy the entertainment and fashion circles, it would be a waste of heaven’s gift, wouldn’t it?
Li Lekang, full of fighting spirit, got up to brush his teeth and wash up.
While he was washing, a maid from Saint quietly entered, preparing new clothes for him—the staff carefully handpicked by Stell, highly competent, skilled both intellectually and physically, and fiercely loyal!
Stell’s attitude toward this backer was serious enough!
