Chapter 37: Coming to Thank You
After dinner, the new police officer, Zhang Jingyu, settled into a room on the first floor.
Liu Yang returned to his own room. After taking a shower and lying on the bed, he gazed at his long, dark katana, unable to tear his eyes away. His base strength had been bolstered, and his close-quarters combat ability had improved dramatically; he had been lacking a melee weapon, and it was a stroke of incredible luck that he had acquired such a treasure just a day after mentioning his need for one.
He pulled a fresh towel from his dark space and began to wipe down the superb weapon. The dark blade felt powerful and sturdy, emitting faint, cold glints. Its straight, sharp profile suggested both keen edge and resilience, as if it could pierce through any enemy. After cutting down hundreds of zombies and over a dozen survivors today, the blade remained as sharp as ever, capable of severing a hair. Liu Yang looked at it with pure adoration.
A master once said that one should treat a weapon like a lover—because a weapon might stay by your side longer than a lover, and while a weapon can save your life, a lover only drains your energy.
Just as Liu Yang was happily polishing the blade, a knock sounded at the door.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
Hearing this, Liu Yang unhurriedly put the blade away. He had enjoyed the view enough; now it was time to unsheathe his own sword. He wondered who was knocking. He hoped it was the policewoman, Zhang Jingyu. Liu Yang licked his lips and called out with anticipation:
"Come in!"
The door pushed open. It was indeed Zhang Jingyu. She had finished her shower, and her long, straight black hair was still damp, draping smoothly over her fair, fragrant shoulders. Her long, slender legs and curvaceous figure were extremely eye-catching. Seeing Liu Yang’s smiling expression, Zhang Jingyu’s face flushed red. She stammered, "Um... I... I came to thank you for saving me today."
"I know, I know. Come, get on the bed. Let's have a good talk—about the future, about ideals, about spreading our branches and leaves..." Liu Yang said with a wicked grin.
He had expected it to be Su Xiao, Tang Mengting, He Yushi, or Zhao Lina. He hadn't even dropped a hint to Zhang Jingyu, yet on her very first day, she had figured it out on her own. Good, very good! She was a teachable spirit.
"Spread... spread branches and leaves?" Zhang Jingyu looked puzzled. Once she realized the implication, her face turned even redder.
"I... I thought... we were just ordinary friends. I just wanted to thank you verbally. Isn't... isn't it too fast to start spreading branches and leaves now?"
"What’s this about friends? Your brother entrusted you to me; how could I bear to be just your friend? At the very least, I should be your boyfriend!" Liu Yang pulled Zhang Jingyu into his arms. "Of course, if you want to thank me verbally first, I don't mind—and then we can spread our branches and leaves!"
"Mm~♡" Zhang Jingyu let out a shy, soft moan.
Feeling her warm, softly trembling body, Liu Yang felt his own blood heating up. What was the point of being friends? As the saying goes: a friend is someone who can give you a hand, but a girlfriend is someone who can handle your rod. Therefore, he definitely wanted a girlfriend!
Seeing how nervous Zhang Jingyu was, Liu Yang smiled and stroked her delicate face, helping her gradually relax.
"I... I've never had a boyfriend before, so I might be a little... nervous. I might not do it well..." Zhang Jingyu said shyly. By now, she felt completely weak, her face flushed, and she felt as soft as water, leaving herself entirely at Liu Yang’s mercy.
"It's okay, I'll teach you. I love teaching others," Liu Yang said with a confident smile. He pulled Zhang Jingyu onto the bed. Looking at this perfect goddess—whom others wouldn't even dare to dream of—striving to please him, he felt a sense of achievement like never before.
Finally, unable to restrain himself any longer, Liu Yang claimed her. Sensing Liu Yang’s prowess, Zhang Jingyu bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes as her hands gripped the sheets tightly. Moments later, indescribable sounds filled the room. Zhang Jingyu experienced sensations she had never known in her life.
...
Outside, when Zhang Jingyu had entered Liu Yang’s room, a group including Su Xiao, Tang Mengting, Chen Dan, and Zhao Yuting had been in the hallway. Hearing the sounds coming from within, they began to whisper among themselves.
"She really went in!"
"And to think she looked so pure."
"Oh my! It’s only been a few minutes and she’s already begging for mercy! Is it real or is she faking it?"
"Don't even mention it! Which girl who enters Liu Yang’s room isn't like that? You know how strong Liu Yang is!"
"And I heard him say he wanted her to be his girlfriend! My god! We have so many girls here, and who has ever been recognized as his official girlfriend? Only Zhang Jingyu, and Liu Yang asked for it himself!"
"That's right! My goodness! He's being so good to her!"
"We’d better be nice to Zhang Jingyu from now on!"
"She’s the one getting all the favor now!"
Listening to the chatter, Tang Mengting’s expression was grim. She was the one who wanted to be Liu Yang’s girlfriend most of all, and more than once she had placed herself in that position, only to be hit with a harsh reality every time. Liu Yang had never given her a kind look. Yet, on her very first day, Zhang Jingyu had prompted Liu Yang to ask her to be his girlfriend. It was a level of treatment no other girl had received.
Tang Mengting had previously viewed He Yushi, Zhao Lina, and Zhao Yuting as potential rivals, but now she realized the true enemy was this newcomer, Zhang Jingyu—an enemy with an unshakable status. Everyone felt a sense of crisis, mixed with intense envy.
The long-legged teacher, Zhao Yuting, didn't think so much about status or favor. She only cared about when she, a fish dying of thirst, would finally receive the nourishment of the ocean. Her mind was filled with fantasies. Her body felt feverish, as if thousands of ants were crawling over her, making her restless. She leaned against the door, feeling weak and breathless. She imagined that the person entering the room wasn't Zhang Jingyu, but herself.
"Mm-ah~♡" Zhao Yuting couldn't help but moan.
Su Xiao, standing nearby, looked over with concern. "Oh my, Yuting, what's wrong? Why is your face so red? Are you feeling unwell? Do you have a fever?"
"Ah... no, no, excuse me, I just need to rest." Zhao Yuting hurried back to her room and slammed the door shut. Back inside, she breathed heavily, her face flushed. She muttered to herself, "What do I do? What do I do! What is wrong with me? If this goes on, I feel like... I'm going to lose it♡!"
...
Su Xiao and the others watched Zhao Yuting’s hurried departure with confusion.
"What’s wrong with Yuting? She seemed a bit off."
"Teacher Zhao must be upset. She used to be the most favored, but then came Zhao Lina, and now Zhang Jingyu, stealing all her thunder. I’d be upset too."
"Exactly, if I were her, I’d be gritting my teeth!"
"Look at her, she’s so heartbroken she’s trembling all over. She couldn't even stand straight. She’s clearly furious."
"We haven't been favored by Liu Yang for as long as she has, so we can't understand her feelings, but putting myself in her shoes, I'd be angry too!"
"Should we find a chance to comfort her?"
Listening to the students, Su Xiao shook her head. "Give her some time to get over it. Liu Yang might bring back even more beauties in the future. She won't last long if her mental resilience is this weak."
"That's true," the girls agreed.
