Chapter Fifty-One: I’m Really Leaving—Do As You Please~
“Ace, could you at least knock?”
Lu Meng had barely stepped out of the bedroom when she found him sprawled lazily across the sofa, even reading one of her books.
Ace did not bother getting up. “What’s there to knock for?”
Lu Meng was speechless. Ever since she had added him to the apartment’s authorized-user list, he had been coming over constantly.
At first, she had found it difficult to adjust. Now, apart from grumbling a little, she had completely run out of ways to object.
“Don’t you ever have to train?”
How could he have so much free time?
Wen Er had to train every day. Unlike Ace, who did nothing but laze around!
He had to be slacking off.
Ace tossed the book aside and sat up. “I’m already this strong. What difference does training make?”
He shrugged as he spoke.
Lu Meng tugged at the corner of her mouth. “Ha.”
She believed him, of course, but why did it sound so irritating when the words came out of his mouth?
Ace leaned lazily against the sofa.
“What are we having for lunch?”
Lu Meng had always looked down on his habit of freeloading meals.
“Can’t you eat at the cafeteria? There are so many cafeterias in the military district. Surely they’re enough for you?”
He was always coming to her place for food!
Honestly, her apartment was not a free cafeteria.
Ace looked at her at his leisure, amusement glimmering in his eyes.
Had she still not realized that her attitude toward him had grown much warmer? At the very least, she was no longer as guarded around him as she had been in the beginning.
He hid the smile in his eyes and raised his brows at her. “I don’t feel like going.”
He didn’t feel like going?
Did that mean he could come to her place for meals every day?
Lu Meng ranted furiously to herself. After struggling with the matter for a while, she finally surrendered.
“Then go buy the groceries. I’ll send you a list.”
“Sure!”
Ace rose and headed out with practiced ease.
After he left, Lu Meng sent him the list. She had intended to take a nap in her room when a message suddenly arrived from Marta, the Chief Guide.
[Little Meng, your guide-counseling slots will be released this afternoon along with those of the other guides~]
That was pretty quick, Lu Meng thought.
Then again, it was already the twenty-ninth. The new month was just around the corner.
[Received, Chief.]
After she replied, Marta sent another message.
[No need to be so formal~ I’ve already prepared your private guide-counseling room. You can come take a look tomorrow morning. If there’s anything you need, just let me know~]
A private guide-counseling room?
Would it be like Daili’s, a counseling room that belonged exclusively to her?
Lu Meng could barely contain her excitement.
Wonderful!
When she had filled in for Daili for those few days, she had loved Daili’s counseling room. It was spacious, fully equipped, and furnished with an exceptionally soft sofa. There was even a lounge.
Since it had been Daili’s room, Lu Meng had felt too embarrassed to go in and rest, even when the Chief Guide told her she could.
Now, at last, she would have a counseling room of her own!
How wonderful!
[All right. Thank you, Chief!]
[No need to thank me~]
Lu Meng shut off her wrist computer. Overcome with excitement, she flailed her arms and legs about, unable to stop herself from making a strange little cry.
“Wow, wow, wow~ La la la la la~”
She had not expected that the moment she turned around, she would suddenly find herself facing Ace’s indescribable expression.
Her entire body froze. She wanted nothing more than to find a crack in the floor and crawl into it.
He simply stared at her without saying a word.
The atmosphere became unbearably still.
Lu Meng was the first to break the silence. She gave two awkward little laughs.
“Th-that is, why are you back?”
Ace took in every bit of her embarrassment. A smile tugged at his lips, and he deliberately teased her.
“I-I came back to get something.”
Seeing the amusement in his eyes, Lu Meng could not help glaring at him.
Damn sentinel!
He was actually imitating her stammer!
Did making fun of other people really make him that happy?
What terrible manners!
Once he had laughed enough, Ace picked up the item he had left on the sofa. Lu Meng caught a fleeting glimpse of it—it seemed to be a black ring.
He moved quickly, placing it straight into the storage space on his wrist computer, so she did not get a clear look.
After retrieving it, he looked at her and could not resist curling his lips into a smile.
“This time I’m really leaving. Make yourself at home.”
Lu Meng: “…”
