No one could have imagined that at this moment, there would really be a fool fearless enough to step forward and intervene.

From the conversation among the three, it was clear to anyone that they not only knew each other but also had a strained relationship. Yet, despite this, someone actually stepped up.

The one who stood up to stop them was none other than the guy who had been sneakily glancing at Nini Leng ever since he got on the vehicle—a man with desires but no courage. However, when he said, “You can’t go with them,” his face betrayed a hint of timidity. After the man in the blue cloak turned sharply and gave him a fierce glare, his body involuntarily trembled, and his legs shook uncontrollably.

“Coward.” The man in the blue cloak didn’t hesitate to brand the young man who spoke out with this label before turning his head and continuing forward.

Nini Leng only glanced back briefly, her eyes still vacant and dull, as if the fate of the person who had just spoken for her was utterly irrelevant to her.

As the three figures moved away, the onlookers in the third carriage cast disdainful glances at the young man who had tried to stop them, then resumed their own amusement as if nothing had happened—except that the seat once occupied was now empty.

Only the little girl’s eyes were moist; children are still too innocent, and seeing her beloved sister taken away stirred a wave of sadness in her heart.

At the entrance to the fifth carriage, the two figures stopped. Their voices remained as cold and forbidding as ever, the polite address to Nini Leng now notably more indifferent.

The first four carriages of the train were hard seats, while the last four were hard sleepers. It was clear the two had planned ahead—there was no one else in the third compartment besides them. But for Nini Leng, whose spirit was already broken, none of it mattered anymore.

“Only twenty minutes until the station. You’ll have to bear with this for now,” said the man in the blue cloak with a cold expression. He then sat down on the opposite hard sleeper, pulled out two cigarettes from his pocket, and lit one without a trace of propriety or chivalry toward the woman, exhaling smoke in an indulgent manner, totally at ease.

Compared to their usual deadly night missions, capturing a defenseless girl was by far the easiest task, which explained their relaxed demeanor.

Nini Leng remained silent, perfectly cooperative, leaning against the compartment wall, her vacant eyes fixed on the glass window as if staring into nothingness.

As time passed, the pitch-black night began to shimmer with colors as the train neared Jiangning City. Towering skyscrapers rose one after another, and since the hour was not too late, many lights were still on, illuminating the city brightly.

Meanwhile, Lin Yang, aboard a high-speed train, was restless and anxious. He knew that if Nini Leng were really taken by the Leng family, he would pay dearly for the last incident with the Leng uncle and nephew. This time, they would surely come prepared, at least with some firearms.

Knowing the exact arrival time of the bus carrying Nini Leng made him even more anxious, and although the high-speed train was fast, he wished it could go even faster.

Focused on Nini Leng’s safety, Lin Yang failed to notice the danger creeping up on him—several pairs of eyes filled with murderous intent were watching him closely.

Though the high-speed train was much faster, when it reached Jiangning Station, it was already ten minutes behind Nini Leng’s train. Ten minutes might still mean she hadn’t exited the station, but for Lin Yang, who had rushed off the train first, this was a critical challenge.

Lin Yang’s frantic dash off the train naturally drew many disapproving looks, but five others also leapt down shortly after him.

“Chase him! We can’t let that brat get away. It’s chaotic here—easy to make a move. Once he leaves, it’ll be much harder,” whispered a young, burly man in a black suit, his black earpiece barely visible, as he issued orders discreetly.

Lin Yang felt no sense of danger. As he jumped off the train, his concentration was sharper than ever. His entire focus converged in his eyes, which scanned the crowded station like a searchlight. Despite the time difference, he was confident Nini Leng hadn’t left yet.

His persistence paid off. His gaze locked onto the automatic escalator at the exit, where two burly men were escorting a dazed Nini Leng out of the station.

Without hesitation, Lin Yang charged forward like a mad bull, barreling through the crowd straight toward the exit.

His agility served him well. Utilizing the station’s railings and handrails, he swung and climbed like a monkey, rapidly closing the distance between himself and the trio.

As he exited the station, he caught sight of Nini Leng being whisked away in a black Porsche luxury SUV.

“Damn it, I’m still too late,” Lin Yang growled with frustration. He quickly scanned the surroundings and noticed the door of a nearby black Volkswagen opening. Without a second thought, he yanked the owner out and jumped into the car with a quick “I’ll return it later,” before flooring the accelerator in pursuit of the Porsche.

The bewildered car owner stood stunned for a moment before shouting, “My car! My car! Someone’s stolen it!”

Police patrolling the station immediately took notice. No sooner had Lin Yang driven off than sirens blared, chasing after him.

Meanwhile, the men who had planned to ambush Lin Yang with a sniper shot rushed out of the station, panting heavily, only to find their target already vanished.

“What do we do, boss? That brat got away,” one of the five asked the black-clad leader.

“What do we do? Damn if I know. Hmph, never thought he’d slip through our fingers even now. We’ll get chewed out when we get back,” the leader grumbled angrily. He had fired a shot amidst the chaos, but Lin Yang’s ghostlike speed and reflexes caused the bullet to miss, and unfortunately, a bystander was hit instead. Panic erupted inside the station as the frightened crowd surged wildly toward the exits, creating chaos that severely slowed any pursuit and forced them to conceal their identities—after all, gun crimes in China were punishable by death.

By the time the crowd had flooded out, Lin Yang was already long gone.

“Report everything truthfully. If I’m right, that brat must be shadowing Leng Sha and Leng Tu. They just got off the train not long ago. Judging by his expression earlier, he must have seen them. Good—that way we can lure him somewhere secluded and eliminate him, making up for our failure this time,” the black-clad leader muttered thoughtfully, pulling out his phone to make a call.

Meanwhile, Leng Sha and Leng Tu, comfortably sipping red wine and basking in their triumph, were interrupted by the ringing of Leng Sha’s phone. Seeing it was a call from Leng Tang, Leng Sha teased, “What’s up? Your side done handling things already?”

“Sha-ge, it’s a mess. That brat got away. If I’m right, he’s following you. Your train arrived ten minutes before ours,” the leader explained softly over the phone from the station square.

“What? Following us?” Leng Sha’s face showed disbelief. He glanced through the rearview mirror and caught sight of a black Volkswagen tailing them closely, with three police cars flashing lights behind it.

Noticing Leng Sha’s grim expression, Leng Tu, who had just swallowed a mouthful of wine, asked, puzzled, “Big brother, what’s wrong?”

“Look behind,” Leng Sha said darkly, pointing at the mirror.

Seeing the relentless black Volkswagen in pursuit, Leng Tu’s expression also darkened. “Big brother, what’s going on? Who’s chasing us?”

“Leng Tang’s side botched it. Their train was only ten minutes behind ours. That brat must’ve figured out which train the girl was on and is chasing after her now,” Leng Sha explained gravely.

He had heard rumors of Lin Yang’s skills, so the thought of him closing in made them uneasy. Despite countless deadly battles, those who kill without hesitation are often the most fearful of death—and as assassins, they were no exception.

Hearing the conversation, Nini Leng, who had been expressionless and indifferent, suddenly brightened for a fleeting moment. Inside, her emotions surged like a storm as she whispered, “It’s him. It really is him coming to save me.”

But after the brief thrill came endless sorrow. “We… we can never be together, right? You like Yi Xue. No matter how much I try to tempt you, you’ll never love me, will you? I… I don’t want to be just a sister. I don’t want to… don’t want to.”

Inside, Nini Leng roared like a mad tigress, her heart aching fiercely. Large tears slid silently down her beautiful cheeks, but she did not sob; if not for the tears, no one would know whether she was joyful or heartbroken.

Lin Yang’s driving skills were indeed formidable. Despite his car’s mediocre performance, he managed to catch up to the Porsche SUV. When Leng Sha and Leng Tu shot him a murderous glance, he suddenly veered sharply right, crashing into the bulky SUV.

With a heavy impact, the Porsche slammed into the roadside guardrail and flipped onto its side along the highway. Lin Yang’s sudden assault caught them off guard. Without it, flipping the Porsche with a Volkswagen would have been nearly impossible.

Relieved to have found Nini Leng, Lin Yang pulled over and quickly climbed out, cautiously approaching the overturned Porsche.
