In the Guqi Mountain foothills of the Haitian District, Lin Yang dragged his exhausted body forward. Every step felt as heavy and arduous as climbing a mountain.

Just as he was on the verge of collapsing from physical depletion, two black Mercedes-Benz vehicles sped toward him with startling velocity. He raised his hand to flag them down out of reflex. Though he held little hope, he was unwilling to let such a rare opportunity slip by.

To his surprise, the vehicles screeched to a halt right in front of him, as if they had been searching for him specifically. Nearly a dozen men leaped out.

"Young Master Lin! Young Master Lin!" Tang Guang hurried to his side, cheering with excitement. He had expected to spend some effort searching, so finding him this easily felt like a stroke of divine favor.

Before Lin Yang could speak, his body—wracked with extreme exhaustion, blood loss, and multiple wounds—succumbed to a deep, heavy unconsciousness. The men loaded him into a car and sped toward the nearest hospital in the Haitian District.

Upon receiving the call from Tang Yixue and learning that Lin Yang had been found and taken to the Haitian Hospital, Meng Hu and his men rushed there without pause. Concerned for Lin Yang’s safety, Meng Hu and Su Xiaodong did not dare to rest for a moment. Thanks to the personnel Tang Yixue had stationed at the Jiangning train station, they were spared the trouble of finding their own transport. With the help of the guides sent by the Tang family who were familiar with Jiangning, they arrived at the hospital in little time.

Though the Haitian District was a remote and relatively barren area compared to the prosperous parts of Jinhai, it was still quite developed, as Jiangning was a prefecture-level city.

After an hour-long journey, the group arrived. Upon exiting the vehicle, they were greeted by the men Tang Guang had left to wait at the hospital entrance, saving them further time.

After an hour of treatment, Lin Yang had already regained consciousness. By the time Meng Hu and his group arrived, he was busy conversing with Tang Guang.

"Where is the Leng family estate?" the pale-faced Lin Yang asked in a low voice. Failing to rescue Leng Nini had become a knot in his heart.

"In the city center of Jiangning, in the Shuangcheng District. It’s called the Lengtian Villa," Tang Guang hesitated before answering truthfully.

Just as Lin Yang was about to ask more, the hospital door was pushed open, and Meng Hu and Su Xiaodong stepped in. Seeing them, Lin Yang felt a surge of gratitude; they had traveled thousands of miles to find him, a gesture of true friendship.

"Are you okay, kid? What on earth happened? We had no news for over a day—you nearly scared us to death!" Meng Hu approached, seeing that Lin Yang’s injuries were not critical, and asked with visible concern.

"Exactly! You really terrified us, Boss Yang. No word all night—it was torture. You have no idea how we nearly turned Jinhai upside down looking for you!" Su Xiaodong exclaimed with his trademark mischievous grin.

"Oh, stow it. It wasn't that dramatic. Just a couple of dogs trying to bite back before they died. No need to make such a fuss," Lin Yang said lightly, though only he knew how close he had come to death the night before. Had he been even a second slower, he would have been finished.

"And Nini? Where is that girl?" Su Xiaodong scanned the room, his smile stiffening as he realized Leng Nini was missing.

Lin Yang shook his head helplessly and sighed. He gave a concise account of the previous night’s events. He had a natural flair for storytelling, recounting the perilous battle so vividly that it played out like a movie in the listeners' minds. Su Xiaodong was captivated; being a fan of high-stakes thrills like underground boxing and dog fights, he listened with rapt attention.

Meng Hu, however, sighed inwardly, feeling that Lin Yang had been too reckless. Jiangning was the Leng family’s territory; acting alone was unwise. "Xiao Yang, you were too impulsive. If something had happened to you, the entire North would have fallen into chaos." After learning that Lin Yang was the young master of the Yinchuan Lin family, Meng Hu had pledged his loyalty, which explained why he hadn't slept all night and rushed to Jiangning without hesitation.

"I know, Brother Hu. I’ll be careful next time," Lin Yang replied with a faint smile, not arguing with the well-intentioned advice.

Su Xiaodong, however, remained unimpressed by caution, praising Lin Yang's actions instead: "Boss Yang is truly the best! Fighting off a dozen people and coming out unscathed—you're a god! Teach me a few moves sometime, Boss!"

"Get lost."

"Get lost."

Lin Yang snapped, exasperated by Su Xiaodong’s lack of awareness. He had nearly lost his life, yet this guy was treating it like an action movie. If he weren't injured, he would have kicked him. Meng Hu, being more direct, followed the order by planting a heavy kick on Su Xiaodong’s backside. Su Xiaodong, caught off guard, face-planted, barely managing to shield his teeth from the floor.

Rubbing his backside and shooting a glare at the other two, he wisely retreated to flirt with a pretty nurse to kill time.

"Xiao Yang, are you saying the girl was taken back?" Meng Hu asked, his expression darkening. He had developed a soft spot for the girl during their time together.

Lin Yang sighed helplessly. If Leng Nini hadn't been taken back, they could still intervene, but now it was a matter of family internal affairs, making it much more difficult.

"What are your plans?" Meng Hu asked, knowing Lin Yang’s stubborn nature. He feared more reckless actions.

Lin Yang spread his hands, shaking his head. He had no good solutions.

...

While Lin Yang struggled for options, Leng Tang, who had brought Leng Nini back to the Lengtian Villa, was facing heavy criticism.

Leng Sha and Leng Tu, two of the Leng family’s gold-tier assassins, had perished. This was an unforeseen catastrophe. Compared to Leng Nini, the value of these two assassins was immense. They had lost their best men and exposed their operation—the Leng family had truly suffered a massive loss.

"And that boy? Are you certain he was buried in Guqi Mountain?" Leng Qing asked in a cold voice. The memory of Lin Yang slapping him kept playing in his mind like a curse. It was an insult—a naked, humiliating insult. Having grown up arrogant and pampered, he had never suffered such a blow. He dreamed of tearing Lin Yang to pieces. He had designed a flawless trap, only to suffer such heavy losses that even his father would struggle to explain it to the clan elders.

"Yes, he was likely blown to pieces," Leng Tang sneered, his eyes flashing with a hidden, excited glint that he quickly masked. He had long harbored a grudge against the Leng brothers, who had always overshadowed him, and his hidden agenda had led to the events of the previous night.

Of course, against high-grade explosives, even a hardened special forces soldier would find it hard to survive, but with someone like Lin Yang, it was hard to say.

"Hmph, good. If that brat is still alive, you can go to hell to keep him company!" Leng Qing threatened, though inwardly he was triumphant. He had succeeded in eliminating the boy.

But was it really that simple? He had acted on his own, deployed the family’s assassins, and lost two of their best. If this were left unaddressed, the Leng family wouldn't be the Leng family.

*Bang!*

Just as Leng Qing was basking in his success, the door to his bedroom—a five-centimeter-thick piece of solid rosewood—was shattered by a single kick, leaving a gaping hole.

A mysterious figure entered, draped in a black robe and wearing a mask, with only cold, murderous eyes visible. Upon seeing this figure, the previously triumphant Leng Qing felt his legs turn to jelly. He collapsed to the floor, his face ashen, trembling uncontrollably.
