Liang Wenru had actually blocked her on every possible form of contact!
How dare he!
In the end, wouldn’t he come crying and begging her to come back, just like before when he’d been so easily deceived by her? Liang Wenru couldn’t possibly manage without her.
“You, call Liang Wenru and tell him I’m here. Tell him to come down and get me right away.”
Chu Qingzhu’s imperious tone made even the junior security guards behind her a little angry. The head of security at the front wore a look of disdain, but still did as she said and called Liang Wenru.
Who here didn’t know what had happened recently?
It had made the news and was already the talk of Xingye. Although Pei Susu and Liang Wenru’s marriage was their own affair, the rights and wrongs were not entirely lost on anyone.
Liang Wenru had chosen Chu Qingzhu, abandoning the wife who had always stood by his side. Now, to see him brought so low—pitiful and pathetic.
And as for Chu Qingzhu? She deserved everything she was getting.
The guard quickly got through to Liang Wenru, recounted what was happening downstairs, and then hung up.
“What did Liang Wenru say? Is he coming down to get me right now?”
“Mr. Liang will be here shortly, Miss Chu. Please wait a moment.”
At the guard’s words, Chu Qingzhu lifted her chin in triumph. “If you say something nice now, get on your knees and beg me, maybe I won’t have him fire you.”
She was dreaming.
The head of security’s face showed nothing, but inside he was full of scorn.
In less than a minute, Liang Wenru appeared at the front desk. The sight of Chu Qingzhu, lightly made-up, standing there proud and composed, made his blood boil.
He’d been locked up in the police station for so long—supposedly to assist with an investigation, though he’d suffered all kinds of humiliation. Fortunately, he hadn’t committed any crimes, so he’d eventually been released.
Even so, Liang Wenru looked haggard. Seeing Chu Qingzhu—the true culprit—still standing there, pristine, he wanted nothing more than to slap her.
“Wenru, these blind security guards actually tried to stop me. Fire them all!”
Liang Wenru gave a cold laugh.
“They stopped you because I told them to.”
For the first time, a crack appeared on Chu Qingzhu’s flawless face. She stared at the man before her, bewildered.
“You haven’t come to work for more than ten days. Sorry, but Xingye has already terminated your employment.”
Here, Liang Wenru’s smile grew cold and mocking. “What’s the matter? Tried to climb higher and failed, lost all your dignity, and now you want to come crawling back to me, your old fool?”
That was exactly what Chu Qingzhu had been thinking, but she couldn’t admit it now. Tears immediately welled in her eyes.
“Wenru, how can you think of me like that? I worked so hard to bring in those investments—wasn’t it all for our company?”
“Why can’t you try to understand me for once?”
Seeing Chu Qingzhu so self-righteous, so unrepentant, only made Liang Wenru recall how capable and clever Pei Susu had been. She’d once managed Xingye with such order and skill, and never stooped to Chu Qingzhu’s sordid tactics.
“There’s nothing more to say. You’ve been dismissed. If you cause any more trouble at Xingye, don’t blame the guards for being rough with you.”
He was clearly resolute about not letting her stay. That this man—whom she’d always thought of as weak—could show such backbone startled Chu Qingzhu, and she dropped the act.
“Fine, I’ll go. But I want to take all the investments and projects I brought in with me.”
She’d worked so hard—had even sold herself—to secure those deals. She’d kept them with Xingye because she could profit from them, but Liang Wenru didn’t deserve them now!
At this, Liang Wenru sneered.
“If it weren’t for Xingye, do you really think those people would have partnered with us just because you’re pretty?”
There was no way he’d let her walk away with the projects. After everything Chu Qingzhu had done to hurt him, he needed some compensation or he’d explode from the injustice.
“So you’re refusing to give them back?” Chu Qingzhu hadn’t expected Liang Wenru to be so shameless. She pulled out her phone.
“If you don’t return what’s mine, I’ll call the police!”
The words “call the police” stabbed at Liang Wenru’s rawest nerve. After what he’d been through lately, those words alone twisted his expression with rage.
Smack—
With a resounding slap, Liang Wenru struck Chu Qingzhu across the face. She hadn’t expected him to hit her and took the blow full on, her head snapping to the side as she stared at him in disbelief.
“You actually hit me?”
“I hit you because you’re a shameless whore!”
Liang Wenru’s eyes were bloodshot with fury. The next second, Chu Qingzhu shrieked and lunged at him, clawing at his face. Chaos erupted.
A crowd quickly gathered, though few stepped forward to break up the fight.
The two of them—villains both—were finally meeting their match, and everyone had witnessed the recent events. Sympathy was in short supply. Some employees, still loyal to Pei Susu, even filmed the scene and sent the video to her.
Only after they’d had enough of the spectacle did someone think to call the police. Soon a patrol car arrived.
“You two again?”
The officers entered the building, sighing at the sight of two all-too-familiar faces.
They’d never seen two people cause so much trouble!
The pair were separated. Liang Wenru’s face bore several deep scratches, while Chu Qingzhu’s was even worse—swollen like a pig’s head.
Fighting like this at the office was a serious matter, so both were taken back to the station.
Pei Susu received the news while signing a contract with Manager Qin. Only after finishing her work did she watch the video, seeing the two scoundrels brawling in a heap—yet she felt nothing at all.
“Why are you only seeing this now? It’s already trending!”
Xingye had been a hot topic lately, and some bold soul had uploaded footage of their fight online.
“Isn’t this the follow-up to that cheating scandal from a few days ago?”
“Yes! Who would’ve thought the drama would escalate—they’re actually fighting now. Waiting for updates!”
“I work at Xingye. They’ve both been taken to the station. That’s it, show’s over.”

Events like this might cause a brief stir online, but such things happened every day. It was just that, draped in the glamour of the wealthy, they drew even more attention.
